IMU CET 2024: IMU has successfully conducted the IMU CET 2024 spot round counselling. The last date to register for the spot round counselling was August 5. The candidates had to report for certificate verification for spot counselling on August 6. The spot counselling registration link is given on the page below.

Via IMUCET 2024, admission will be granted in UG (BTech, B.Sc, DNS) Programmes, MTech Programmes and MBA Programmes. For IMU admission 2024, candidates who get rank certificates can then participate in the online counselling conducted by IMU. IMU will conduct online counselling only for admission to its 6 Campuses - Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Port, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and Kochi. Check all details of IMU CET 2024 like results, counselling, admission process, and more here.

Q:   In what mode is the IMU CET exam held?

A:

IMU CET is conducted through Centre based Online Test in multiple centres across India. The admissions to Lateral Entry will be through concerned campus where the programme is being conducted. However, IMU CET for PhD courses is held in offline mode.

Q:   What is the IMU CET?

A:

IMU CET is conducted by Indian Maritime University for admission of suitable students to UG (except Bachelor of Business Administration), PG, and Research programs. The exam is held annually in CBT mode. IMU CET scores are acceptable at IMU campuses and collges affliated to IMU. Candidates can join MBA and MTech courses via IMU CET or they can apply via CMAT/CAT/MAT and CUET PG/GATE/PGCET scores. Preference in admissions will be given to candidates with IMU-CET ranks. Hence the candidates are encouraged to register for IMU CET.

Q:   What is the application date for IMU CET?

A:

The online IMU CET application form will be out in March 2025, tentatively. The official date for application form and other events will be announced by the Indian Martime University. Candidates can apply for IMU CET 2025 through Online mode only. The link is made available on IMU’s website. The IMU CET online application form consists of three portions:

  • Personal Details
  • Academic Details
  • Payment Details

Candidates have to fill in these three portions. Once the payment is successful, the candidate’s dashboard will appear, from which they can download the filled-in application.

Q:   Can I apply for IMUCET before passing plus two exams?

A:

Yes, you can apply for IMU CET. But make sure at te time of IMU CET counselling you have completed class 12 and have passed the board exams. Make sure to check the eligibility criteria needed for the course you wish to apply for.

What is IMU CET?

The Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) is a national-level admission test. It is conducted in CBT mode annually for admission to 6 campuses of the Indian Maritime University (IMU). The candidates desirous of joining Diploma in Nautical Science, BSc (Nautical Science) and BE/BTech (Marine Engineering) courses have to appear for IMU CET. Candidates can also join MBA and MTech courses via IMU CET or they can apply via CMAT/CAT/MAT and CUET PG/GATE/PGCET scores. Preference in admissions will be given to candidates with IMU-CET ranks. Hence the candidates are encouraged to register for IMU CET. All admission is based on merit through the IMU online counselling process.

Q:   When will the IMUCET exam be conducted?

A:
IMUCET 2025 exam date will be announced by IMU and is expected to be held in June 2025. The application form will be also available on the official website of IMU. IMUCET is an All India level examination conducted by IMU every year. Through this exam candidates are offered admission into various UG, PG, research and Diploma courses in Marine Engineering field.

Q:   Does IMU Kolkata accept IMUCET score?

A:

Yes, IMU Kolkata accepts IMUCET marks for admission to B.Tech, B.Sc, Diploma, M.Tech, MBA and other programs. The IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) is the basis for admission to these programs and seats are allotted through the IMU CET guidelines. For B.Tech in Marine Engineering at IMU Kolkata, a good IMUCET score is required, while general category students must score in the top 700 for admission. The IMUCET exam is conducted in online mode and the result is the marks obtained and the grade obtained in the exam.

Yes, IMU Kolkata does accept IMUCET scores for admission to their B.Tech programs. Q:   Are TIMSAT and IMUCET compulsory for B.Tech in ME at Tolani Maritime Institute?

A:

Yes, you have to appear for both TIMSAT and IMUCET to be eligible to pursue this course. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Tolani Maritime Institute of Scholastic Aptitude Test TMISAT based on marks obtained in 10+2 (PCM marks) and Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test IMUCET rank.

IMU CET 2024 Counselling

IMU conducts the IMU CET counselling in online mode for admission in 6 campuses of IMU. In the first step, the candidates will have to exercise registration by making a payment of INR 10,000. The fee can be paid online i.e., through a debit card/credit card/net banking. After that, the candidates will have to select the programme and campus for admission through IMU CET according to their preference.

Shortlisted candidates are called for appearing in the counselling. Candidates have to go through various stages which are registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, fee payment etc. The registration for IMU CET 2023 counselling shall be available online. The university will conduct the counselling in online mode only. Online counselling will not cover admissions to the affiliated institutes. IMU CET counselling will take place in two phases. 

IMU CET 2024 Result

IMU releases the IMU CET result. Candidates can check their obtained ranks through the result of IMU CET 2024 and apply for the counselling and admission process. Candidates are advised to download the result for future use. Only qualified candidates will be able to participate in the counselling process. The IMUCET 2024 result is made available as a rank list for UG, MBA and MTech courses separately. IMU CET 2024 rank card is also published under the respective logins of the candidates. To access the rank card/result of IMU CET 2024, the candidates will have to log in using the required credentials.

Q:   What to do after clearing IMUCET exam?

A:

After qualifying for IMUCET you need to appear for counselling. You need to register online for the programmes offered by IMU and its campuses. The allotment of seats will be done on the basis of ranks secured by students in the exam. The IMUCET counselling will be conducted for candidates to score the cut-off marks after the IMUCET exam. Eligible candidates can get admission through IMUCET after qualifying for the exam. Before taking admission to any of the courses, the candidates are advised to apply for a passport.

Q:   Will the IMUCET results be sent through email?

A:

No, IMUCET results will not be sent through email. However, students will have to check the result of IMUCET on the official website. The process to check IMUCET  result: 1- Go to the official website of IMUCET . 2- Click on the IMU admission Rank Certificate Download Link. 3- A new window will open and then click on the Registered Candidates log-in to Download Rank Certificate link. 4- Enter the user id and password. 5- Students can download the rank card and print it out for future use.

IMU Admission Process 2024: Via IMU CET and Other Entrance Exams

IMU CET Entrance Tests are held for admission to the following courses:

  1. MU-CET for UG (B.Tech., B.Sc. ,DNS) Programmes.
  2. IMU- CET for M.Tech. Programmes.
  3. IMU- CET for MBA Programmes.

Rank holders of the above 3 CETs can seek admission to respective UG/PG/MBA programmes.
Also, candidates who have qualified in the following exams can seek admission:

  • CUET(UG): Can seek admission to UG Programmes at the time of spot counselling for the residual seats available after the third List. For Admission to BBA programmes, candidates with CUET scores will be given preference.
  • GATE/CUET-(PG)/PG-CET: Can seek admission to PG Programmes, however, preference will be given to candidates with IMU-CET ranks.
  • CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/UG Marks: Can seek admission to MBA Programmes, however, preference will be given to candidates with IMU-CET ranks.
  • Ph.D./Ph.D.(Integrated)/M.S(By Research): Details of the Entrance Test is informed through a separate notification.

IMU CET 2024 Application Form

Candidates can apply for IMU CET 2024 through Online mode only. The link is made available on IMU’s website when the registrations are open. The IMU CET online application form consists of four portions:

  • Personal Details
  • Academic Details
  • Uploading of Documents
  • Payment Details

Candidates have to fill in these three portions. Once the payment is successful, the candidate’s dashboard will appear, from which they can download the filled-in application.

Steps to fill the IMU CET application form 2024:

  • Step 1: Fill out the online application with Basic details.
  • Step 2: Fill out the online application with Personal Details.
  • Step 3: Fill out the online application with Qualification Details.
  • Step 4: Upload scanned images of the photograph and signature. The image should be in jpg/jpeg format only. Upload scanned images of documents. The documents should be in pdf/jpg/jpeg format.
  • Step 5: Pay the application registration fee through online payment mode.

Documents needed to apply for IMU CET

Applicants are required to register online by uploading the following scanned documents

  • Passport size photograph
  • Signature of the candidate
  • 10th Standard Mark Sheet
  • 12th Standard Mark Sheet (wherever applicable)
  • UG Degree Mark Sheet / Certificate (wherever applicable)
  • Category Certificate in respect of SC / ST / OBC (NCL) candidates
  • Economically Weaker Section Certificate in respect of GeneralEWS Candidates
  • NCC Certificate (if applicable)
  • Special State / Nativity Certificate (if applicable)
  • MEO-I / COC Certificate (Applicable for MTech candidates who are Seafarers)

Automated e-mails/SMS is sent to every registered applicant on successful registration of the application, uploading of admit card, publication of results, etc.

Important: The candidates who wish to apply based on CUET scores for UG (except BBA) are not required to register for IMU CET and should apply later during Spot Counselling registration for UG Programmes (except BBA). 

Q:   How do I apply for IMUCET?

Fill in complete educational details such as passing year, percentage, board name, etc in the IMU CET online application form. Upload photo, signature and other documents in the prescribed format. Pay the application fee through debit card/credit card/net banking. Preview the application form and then click on the submit button for the final submission.

Criteria

Description

Educational qualification

  • 10+2/equivalent (PCM-Average: Minimum 60% and a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination).
  • Marital status – Unmarried.

Age Criteria

Maximum age: The reference date for the calculation of the age will be 01.08.2024.

  • For Males: General-25 years, OBC (NCL) - 28 years, SC/ST-30 years
  • For Female: General-27 years, OBC (NCL) - 30 years, SC/ST-32 years.

Relaxation

For SC/ST candidates: There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks. A relaxation of 5% in English marks will apply to candidates who are natives of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belong to their Scheduled Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.

Medical conditions

 

Physical Fitness: Candidates seeking admission to this Marine Engineering Programme must be medically fit including eyesight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.

Eyesight:

  • There shall be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or of the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk of aggravation or recurrence.
  • Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
  • Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara Test Chart. Distance Vision unaided 0.5*(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in the better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in the other eye.

 

Medical certificate requirement

At the time of admission, candidates will be required to produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

Note: Transgender are eligible for the B.Tech. (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) & B.Tech. (Naval Architecture and Ship Building) and they should meet the requisite eligibility criteria.

10+2/equivalent (PCM Average-Minimum 60%) with minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination.

B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years, with an average of not less than 55% of the marks in the final year.

OR

  • B.E./B.Tech Degree from IIT or from a college recognised by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of the marks in the final year.

Q:   Is 10+3 eligible for IMU CET exam?

A:
IMUCET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) for admission to undergraduate programs in the field of Maritime studies. To be eligible for IMUCET a candidate must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Additionally, candidates should also meet the age and medical fitness requirements as specified by the Indian Maritime University. However, Diploma holders or candidates who have completed 10+3 education may be eligible for lateral entry admission to some of the undergraduate programs in the field of Maritime studies. The eligibility criteria for lateral entry admission may vary from college to college.
