M.Sc. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2025

This college provides a big platform to learn.
Placements: My college placement is very good. M.Sc. Biotechnology course, approximately 75%-85% placed of students in the last academic year. The highest offer was around INR 9.5 LPA, the lowest was around INR 4 LPA, and the average offer was around INR 5.5 LPA. Major employers include Biocon, Cipla, and Syngene. About 77% of students have taken up internships at notable institutions such as Biocon and Serum Institute. The primary roles were analyst, quality control analyst, and biologist.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is well maintained with modern laboratories, dedicated Wi-Fi hotspots, and spacious classrooms. The library is stocked with the latest journals and reference books. The hotel has pleasant facilities, clean rooms, a hygienic mess, and a variety of food. Medical facilities are readily available on campus, and there are plenty of sports and play areas to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
Faculty: All faculty members very nice and friendly. The M.Sc. Biotechnology department is highly competent, with most professors holding advanced degrees. Their teaching is engaging and industry-focused, making students well-prepared for real-world challenges. The curriculum is up-to-date, with a good balance between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, resulting in students being ready to work. The semester exams Hurd, but passing rate very nice 89%.

Review of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences.
Placements: 86 percent of students were placed in our course. The average package is 4 lakhs, and the highest package is 10 lakhs. Amazon is the top recruiting company. 75% of students got placements as software engineers, which were the top roles offered in forensic science. Also, some other companies are recruiting the students for placement.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi, lab, classrooms, etc. are very beautiful and huge, and the library is huge. It has a Wi-Fi facility and has a basketball court and turf for badminton and table tennis, as well as a tennis court and a big cricket ground, and it is beautiful.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and experienced, and it was high quality teaching. The semester was moderate, where exams are conducted every 1 month, e.g., term exams have 2 exams in one day. It was difficult to study, but the pass percentage of 40% was easy to get.
Other: I chose forensic science because I am interested in movies and series where it was thrilling to find evidence and catch criminals. Many festivals, like food and chocolate events, are happening, and scholarships are available for students.

Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences.
Placements: Placements are above average. The college gives the best placements to engineering students; we get fewer placements than them. Nestlé, Bosch, Shell India, PWC, and Sun Pharma are major hiring partners of the college. They hire most students. We are a batch of 49 students, from which 34 students were placed. Some, like me, go abroad for higher studies. The salary is around 25 to 30 thousand per month. Roles offered are analytical chemist and lab technician.
Infrastructure: The college is located at the base of the mountains. The climate is hilly, but it is nearly 32 km from the city and takes 1 hour to reach the city. Karunya Institute is A+ grade by NAAC, and its facilities justify this. We have a big auditorium, a study room, a chemistry laboratory, Wi-Fi in every department, and a computer lab in every department. The library is big. Wi-Fi is available, but its speed is very low. I feel the girls' hostel is too strict; we are very restricted about timing and meeting with relatives. Only on Sundays can we meet anyone. Hostel food is really great; we have 5 different messes: Kerala mess, South mess, North mess, Andhra mess, and NRI mess. The hostel is located near the college and is within walking distance.
Faculty: Teachers are too strict. 95% attendance is mandatory for getting a scholarship. Faculty members are friendly and easily approachable, but in completing assignments and studies, they are very strict. Most faculty have done good research in Chemistry. I feel they only teach us theory concepts, and we are not sure if these concepts are used in industries. The syllabus is big, but teachers cover all the syllabus and provide study material like reference books or notes. Semesters have midterm, end-term, and class test exams. All are difficult exams, but I must say internal exams are more difficult than final exams.
Other: Karunya is a top college in Coimbatore, and I completed my B.Sc. Chemistry here. I am interested in doing my master's and feel Karunya is the best.

A glimpse of Karunya University.
Placements: The placement offered by the institution is good and fair enough; the technical assistance and guidance provided to take up interviews by the placement cell committee were so perfectly executed; and the top-rated companies were also provided by the recruitment board.
Infrastructure: At the campus, the atmosphere and the lab set are good. The furnished classrooms and smart learning will assist us in learning and understanding the subject thoroughly. Coming to the hostel, the maintenance was the best thing, as was the pleasant atmosphere.
Faculty: The curriculum and course outcomes were so broad and elaborate that every touch in each subject aspect gave students deep knowledge, from the basic to the advanced level of learning. The minor drawback of the curriculum is that the subjects are pitty and clumsy and sometimes the weight of these subjects can become a burden.
Other: The biggest event that is organized by the institution every year is the Megaplay and it is the biggest fest.

Review of Karunya University.
Placements: All the students who were ever in the class had a percentage of around 70%. I selected the course of M.Sc. Biotechnology because I was very interested in that field. I did the internship at CIIRC, which is located in Bangalore. The companies, like Nestle, came with a package of INR 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the university is so nice and good, as facilities such as Wi-Fi, libraries, and classrooms are available. The library was big, and every department book and story book are available, and the atmosphere of the library is peaceful.
Faculty: Teachers were so helpful, and almost all the faculty are Ph.D. qualified. And the way to explain the subjects is different from faculty to faculty; around 20 faculty are in the department of biotechnology. The semester exams were okay, but a few papers were tough.
Other: I completed my B.Sc. in Biotechnology, so I wanted to do a Masters in Biotechnology. In this course, you can learn so many things.

Placements: Almost 65% of students got placed from our course in different companies. The highest salary package offered is 5 LPA. The average salary package offered is 3 LPA. Almost 100% of students got internships in various parts of India and abroad. Students got internships in other countries through IAESTE.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. The campus has a beautiful environment. All labs are well-equipped with the required equipment. The hostel is affordable.
Faculty: All faculty members of our department are very helpful. They are well-knowledgeable to train students for a better future. The course curriculum is helpful. It makes us ready for the industry.

KSM KIT, Coimbatore generally has better placement records than Bharathiar University. This is often attributed to stronger industry connections, dedicated placement cells, and specialised training programs at KSM KIT, also student performance plays a crucial role in securing placements.
