B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing - Batch of 2028

Solid engineering education with good placement opportunities, but average infrastructure.
Placements: Our branch of mathematics and computing is newly introduced in this college. So I have no idea about placements in this branch. Around 175 students out of 200 in CSE got placed. The highest salary package offered to the CSE branch is 51 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is around 4.5 LPA - 6 LPA. The average salary package offered is 21.45 LPA.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, a lab, library, and classroom facilities are good. The mess and canteen facilities are not good. The quality of the food is not very good. Medical facilities are fine. The ambulance come to pick us up from the hostel. Sports and games facilities are good.
Faculty: Our teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. I am in B.Tech 1st year. In the B.Tech 1st year, all branches have the same curriculum. The in-depth study of our branch will start in 2nd year. We have taken it to the lab. The curriculum makes us industry-ready. Exams are not very difficult. Most of the questions in exams are related to PYQs. The passing percentage is 35%.

Satisfied but there is a huge scope of improvement for NIT DURGAPUR.
Placements: In the previous passing batch of 2023, placement percent was near about 84%, with the highest package being 70 LPA and the average being 13 LPA. In total, 746 jobs were offered in that season. Some of the top companies were JP Morgan, TCS, Samsung, Adobe, Amazon, Axis Bank, Oracle, and many more.
Infrastructure: The facilities that are available for each department are many. Labs, new classrooms, and libraries are all air-conditioned. Labs are well-equipped with most of the machines that are necessary. Hostels are good. However, the quality of mess food is not up to the mark in some of the hostels. Medical facilities are somewhat lacking in terms of necessary equipment.
Faculty: Most of the professors here are just excellent. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable and are always there to help. The course curriculum is also good. They continuously modify the syllabus to make sure that the course is relevant according to modern-day requirements. Semester exams are mostly easy to pass. But if someone wants to get 90+, they must have a good understanding of the subject.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in semiconductors and want to build a career in it. Also, this was the best option that I was getting at the time of counselling. Many events take place every year. Two annual fests that take place are Aarohan (the technical fest) and Recstacy (the cultural fest). The alumni network of this college is also strong.

My Experience at NIT DURGAPUR.
Placements: You can apply for full-time roles in college (on-campus) from the 7th semester because many companies start hiring from this semester. Top companies like Microsoft, JP Morgan, BNY Mellon, Wells Fargo, etc., take students mostly from the Computer Science branch.
Infrastructure: Recently, there was an inauguration of the Research Building (Utkarsh Bhawan). It will definitely create an impact on this college's reputation and ranking in a good way. Overall, the quality of mess food is average here but sometimes it is bad. There are 2 grounds in this college, Ovals and Lords.
Faculty: Some teachers are good here. Each semester you have to give 3 exams i.e., CA1 (15 marks), CA2/Mid-term (25 marks), and Endterm (60 marks). I will not say that the curriculum is worse but there should be some modification in every department's syllabus. Overall, difficulty is moderate for passing the exam.

Good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: The placement scenario in the Chemical Engineering department is decent. In 2024, over 70% of students were placed. The average package was 7.2 LPA, with the lowest package at 4 LPA. Top recruiters included Amazon, Intel, and Microsoft.
Infrastructure: The academic facilities are very good, with good infrastructure. Each department has a separate lab, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus, including the library. The hostel is average, not so good, and they only provide three meals a day.
Faculty: The teachers are well-known and qualified, and the teaching quality is good. The curriculum is relevant, and the semester exams are moderate to tough. You need to study hard to pass, and the passing percentage in each subject is 35%.

It is a good college for placements.
Placements: The campus features a strong placement record, making it a hub for engineering students aspiring for success. I am from the metallurgy branch. This branch is new in NIT Durgapur. Internships at INTDGP are valuable, with strong industry connections offering opportunities in top companies in it. Above 89% of students got placed. Top companies like Tata Steel, etc., visit the college.
Infrastructure: All facilities are good. Wi-Fi and labs are available. Hostel facilities are good. The mess is nice and provides tasty food. Facilities for sports are a basketball court and a cricket court. All games are available. A medical unit is present in our college. The mess in NITDGP has good culinary expertise providing different options though standard. The food is healthy.
Faculty: Teachers are good and helpful. They always clarify students' doubts. It is a little bit difficult to pass the semester. The pass percentage is 35%. Many students are seen practicing a great deal of training, solving coding contests, and undertaking interviews to get high-responsibility and high-paying jobs in the industry of metals.
Other: Fests are held well. Scholarships are available. Applicable students can apply. NIT Durgapur offers a vibrant campus life and blends academic excellence with extracurricular activities.

Review of NIT Durgapur - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: The placement of branches like CSE, ECE, and EE is good, but for lower branches, it's not the same. However, we can say around 70% of students get placed. The highest package in the year 2024 is 70 LPA, and the lowest can go to 5 LPA. Top companies include JP Morgan, Microsoft, and many others.
Infrastructure: New halls like Hall 14 and Hall 11 are good, but others are very old. Wi-Fi facility is provided in all the halls. New classrooms are good with smart classes. The mess food is average, even in the new hall where there is a canteen inside. The medical unit has no medicine. The gym has old equipment.
Faculty: IIT graduate faculty are there, but all the faculty here are from Bengal. Teaching quality can be said to be average. Exams are slightly difficult, and there is a supplementary exam if you cannot clear the regular exam. The passing percentage is around 70%, and many students even get backlogs.
Other: The best course here is Computer Science Engineering, but branches like Integrated Chemistry are considered useless.
