RGNUL LLM Eligibility & Highlights 2025
Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), famously known as NLU Patiala, offers a full-time LLM programme of one year duration. The PG-level programme is offered in three specialisations. RGNUL LLM specialisations include Business Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and International Law. LLM admission at NLU Patiala is based on the applicant's performance in CLAT, the entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of NLUs.
After appearing for the entrance exam, candidates must register for the CLAT counselling for seat allocation. Before applying for admission, candidates must ensure that they fulfil the following RGNUL LLM eligibility criteria:
- The candidate must have passed the LLB/BA LLB degree examination from a recognised university, with a minimum aggregate of 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates)
- Candidates appearing in/awaiting results of the above-mentioned examination, being held in April/May may also apply for admission. Their admission will be confirmed only if they produce proof of their eligibility at the time of the interview/counselling

RGNUL LLM Admission 2025: How to Apply?
The RGNUL LLM admission process starts with the registration for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The CLAT application process is conducted online. It includes registration, submission of application fees, and uploading the required documents. Follow the below-mentioned steps for CLAT registration:
Step 1: Visit the official website of the Consortium of NLUs at www.consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
Step 2: Register as a new user by completing the registration form.
Step 3: Verify your phone number for account activation.
Step 4: Log in to fill out the CLAT application form with all the required information.
Step 5: Select at least three cities as preferred exam centres and the reservation category.
Step 6: List the NLUs in order of preference. All the participating NLUs will be listed on this page. Here, candidates must place RGNUL at the top of the list.
Step 7: Pay the application fee (which is category-specific) in online mode using credit or debit cards, or net banking.
The application form is automatically submitted after the successful payment of the application fees. For General/OBC/PWD/PIO/OCI/NRI category candidates, the application fee is INR 4,000. For SC/ST/BPL category candidates, the application fee is INR 3,500.
After appearing for the CLAT, candidates must register for the CLAT counselling process for RGNUL admission. Seats will be allocated to the candidates based on their CLAT ranks and NLU preferences marked by them. Candidates must submit a registration fee of INR 50,000 while registering for the CLAT counselling. Candidates can accept (freeze), upgrade or exit from their allotted seat in any round of counselling. Once their preferred seat is allotted to them, candidates can complete the process by paying RGNUL fees.
