O.P. Jindal Global University Breaks Into The World’s Top 500 Universities in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022

September 23, 2021: In the QS GER 2022, O.P Jindal Global University (JGU) is ranked 301-500 overall. As a result of QS GER's global assessment of higher education institutions' employability outcomes, JGU is one of the leading universities in the world for developing viable and globally recognised professional pathways for youngsters. It is remarkable that this was accomplished despite the global pandemic's instability. JGU's ability to generate high-achieving achievers is a result of the university's cutting-edge and progressive curriculum, as well as effective career-services governance, which enables JGU graduates to be highly marketable and to act as change agents in the organisations in which they work.

This honor also reflects JGU's unwavering dedication to defying success stereotypes in Indian higher education. This is evidenced by the fact that this achievement has several aspects. To begin with, JGU is the only Indian university included in these rankings that focuses solely on Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities. Second, it is one of only two private Indian universities on the list, the other being the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, which has been around for nearly six decades (BITS Pilani). Finally, JGU, which was founded in 2009, is India's youngest institution among the 11 other Indian universities that have made the QS GER rankings this year. Six IITs, the University of Delhi, BITS Pilani, the University of Mumbai, the Indian Institute of Science, and the University of Calcutta are on the list. JGU is the newest of the Indian universities ranked in QS GER 2022, and it is also one of the top 71 in Graduate Employment Rate (GER). JGU also received an impressive 86.9/100 in Graduate Employment Rate, a key indicator considered for the rankings that involve measuring the proportion of graduates in full or part-time employment within 12 months of graduation (excluding those who choose to pursue further study or those who have made themselves unavailable for work).

The QS GER approach is particularly robust and guarantees that many and different aspects are taken into account. QS considers how well-respected the institutions are among employers, whether they are nurturing high-achievers, how connected the institutions are to companies, and how attractive the institution's recent graduates are to employers when determining these employability rankings of higher education institutions around the world. To compute the scores for GER 2022, QS used the following factors and weightings: employer reputation (30%), alumni outcomes (25%), partnerships with employers per faculty (25%), employer-student relationships (10%), and graduate employment rate (10%).

This one-of-a-kind and unprecedented initiative would reshape university leadership and management programmes, resulting in a community of highly skilled and trained people being fast-tracked into the university's senior management and leadership teams for internal governance and administration.

The University Administrative Service has the power to change the face of academic leadership at JGU. Applicants to the UAS programme must go through a very straightforward and rigorous application process that involves submitting a Statement of Purpose, taking a specially designed UAS aptitude test, participating in group meetings, and having a personal interview. The UAS Executives will receive three months of rigorous preparation and will be mentored by members of the senior managerial leadership after being selected. Based on their success and presentation of leadership competencies, they would have the opportunity to advance to the Director level role within eight years of entering JGU.

Graduates of BA/BBA LLB (Hons), LLB, LLM, MBA, IBM, MA(DLB), and MA(PP) programmes are qualified to apply for the JGU University Administrative Service. Successful candidates will be hired as Assistant Directors right away, with a flexible and lucrative remuneration plan that includes salaries and incentives that are equal with the best in the world. Until being assigned to specific departments, they will go through a rigorous induction and training programme, which will include the Office of Career Services, Finance & Accounts, Office of Rankings, Benchmarking, and Institutional Transformation (ORBIT), General Administration, Strategic Initiatives (Office of the Vice Chancellor), Office of Online Education, Admissions & Outreach, and Human Resource.

November 6, 2019: Looking at the need for achieving excellence and rising higher in the global rankings, Vice-Chancellor of O P Jindal Global University, Raj Kumar presented a 10-point agenda to build institutions of eminence, capable of connecting the local needs with global aspirations.  JGU is the only university in the category of non-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and non-medicine universities to be recognised as ‘Institution of Excellence’.

In addition to recruiting eminent professors both from the country and overseas, Kumar also highlighted the need for transparent admission process without management quota, and establishing international networks and partnerships with leading foreign universities. The idea is to foster diversity, inclusion and connectivity.

The college needs to focus on placements.

Placements: Unfortunately, our college does not assist internship services. But, they strongly encourage us to pursue internships during semester holidays. As it increases the chances of getting placed in various firms like consulting, media, publishing centers, and more. I have decided to pursue a master’s degree instead.
