Parul University Initiates Vadodara's First-Ever Society Of Petroleum Engineering Student Chapter

September 16, 2021: Parul University, a city-based university, has become the first in Vadodara and the second in Gujarat to form a student chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineering, as part of its attempts to bridge the gap between industrial application and institutional instruction (SPE). J Tikku, ONGC's chief general manager, inaugurated the student chapter earlier this month on the University's campus. The petroleum department of the Faculty of Engineering has been working hard to provide its students with the most enriching exposure to practical learning through their close association with experts in the field.

Asish Thapliyal, Mani Bansal, and Piyush Nene of the SPE India division were in attendance for the inauguration, as were 219 petroleum engineering students.

SPE's mission is to improve the oil and gas industry's ability to meet the world's energy demands in a safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective manner. SPE has grown from its beginnings as a council inside the American Institute of Mining Engineers (AIME) in the mid-1900s to become an autonomous, charitable global society with over 140,600 members in 144 countries. SPE provides unrivaled bits of information, shared abilities, long-term development, and local community solidarity to fuel individual success and the company's fate. SPE manages important industry assets such as OnePetro and PetroWiki, as well as publishing and distributing publications, books, and other materials. Every year, they host more than 100 conventions, studios, and other events all over the world.

Having a chapter of this prestigious organisation on the University's campus will deliver excellent outcomes for the students, providing them with not just technical knowledge but also exposure to a wide range of career options in this field. Free SPE membership, access to any technical publication on the SPE website, and the ability to present their papers at any SPE conference around the world are among the perks of this programme. In addition to their normal lectures, Parul University students will be able to hear lectures by SPE prominent speakers through numerous platforms as part of their academics. Students will be able to participate in all SPE India Chapter programmes, visit various student chapter programmes in India, and apply for scholarship possibilities in various capacities as a result of this new development.

One of the key driving forces behind Parul University's instructional activities has been the need to engage students on a more global level. This SPE branch is one of several efforts aimed at increasing members' participation in fields that are constantly changing and growing, such as the petroleum industry. “This student chapter will offer substantial value to our students and their petroleum engineering learning process.” Dr MN Patel, the University's Vice Chancellor, stated, "SPE maintains a position of tremendous value and relevance, and the engagement of our students in this programme will undoubtedly mold and develop them towards this path of advancement in the business.", he continued

Professor Om Prakash Develops Automated Robotic Cleaner For Cleaning Inaccessible Parts Of The Covid Wards

July 20, 2021: By developing techniques to combat the spread of Covid-19, technology has shown to be one of the most effective means of assisting the healthcare sector. Parul University in Vadodara has combined its engineering and medical sectors to develop long-term solutions for the welfare of Covid patients while also caring for the well-being of its employees. Professor Om Prakash Shukla of the University took the unusual step of developing an automated robotic cleaner for cleaning inaccessible portions of the Covid wards to ensure the safety of cleaning employees by minimizing interaction with patients. Parul University has taken an interdisciplinary approach to its teaching and learning process, integrating innovations from one sector to address the issues of the other.

This revolutionary invention, known as ‘Clenoroboflex,’ is the most recent addition to the University's extensive line of in-house produced technology. It is a remote-controlled vacuum cleaner with a working range of 15 meters, making it ideal for use in infectious illness wards. The device may be controlled by a single person from a safe distance. This new product will greatly reduce traffic flow due to fewer manpower requirements and the usage of numerous cleaning equipment for hospital and healthcare business sanitation and cleaning. The idea was created for use at Parul Sevashram Hospital, the University's 750-bed multi-specialty hospital.

This unusual robot is battery-powered, with a working time of two hours and facilities for battery backup. This increased battery life is essential because a single charge may cover a larger radius and provides a steady stream of uninterrupted usage. Furthermore, it is manufactured entirely of local materials with no welding and has a PVC body construction, making it extremely lightweight and battery-powered. It is critical for the machine's use in the medical profession that it can be sterilised quickly and simply for reuse. Because the robot is composed of PVC, it can be easily sanitized using normal hospital cleaning chemicals.

Parul University’s New ‘Mummy N' Yummy’ Food Outlet, Succeeds In Self Empowering Women

June 18, 2021: Taking note of the multiple vulnerabilities that disadvantaged women have faced in these trying times, Vadodara-based Parul University has made a proactive step to address these issues for women in its surrounding regions. Through such projects, the University continues to develop business and social solutions that might aid in improving women's welfare and assuring their well-being.

Mummy n' Yummy, as its name suggests, has brought the delicious flavour of home-cooked meals to the PU campus for students and staff. The store has become one of the many cutting-edge amenities on campus, not only boosting the well-being of students but also safeguarding the safety of women. Parul University has been curating some of the top national and international food outlets, with the attempts to bring a taste from every area to its campus, and by building up Mummy n' Yummy, the University has finally discovered a method to bring a taste of the students' homes to its campus. Mummy n' Yummy's female owners went beyond flavour while creating the menu, focusing on offering highly nutritional meals that promote healthy living on PU's 28,000-student campus.

Women will be in charge of the operations and management of this food outlet, and the proceeds from their daily business activities will be used to support themselves and their families. Dr Parul Patel, Vice President of Parul University, stated, "I feel that via this new programme, women across our society will find solace as they will be able to help their families especially during these tough times." The Social Responsive Cell has taken a number of initiatives in this role, many of which have centred on financially empowering women through strengthening their business skills and capabilities.

A Deep Dive into the Campus of Parul.

Placements: Seven-semester students become eligible for campus placement. There are so many companies that visit our campus, like Reliance, Byju's, etc. The highest package at Parul University is 17 Lacs, and the average package is 5 Lacs. Around 70 percent of students get placements. My plan after my degree is to first gain experience in a good company and then open my own company.

Faculty members are too good, but placement can't be possible in this field.

Placements: In my course, there is no placement from the college side, whether it is Bachelor's or Master's, because the job is based on government vacancies and entrance. So, we can't depend on the college for that. So, obviously, there is no placement in Forensic Science from any college.

The college where students learn about living.

Placements: Nearly 60 to 70 percent students get placed every year in good and medium companies. As for me, the highest package offered is 36 LPA and the average goes around 7 LPA. Top companies are Amazon, Flipkart, etc. Almost all the students gets the opportunity to do internships in good companies.

Good campus, but placements should be improved.

Placements: Don't know exactly how many placed, but not much, and the highest package is 32 LPA, the lowest is 3.5 LPA, and the average package is 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Accenture and TCS. Almost 60% of students got the internship in companies like TCS, etc. The top roles are AIML, cloud computing, data science, etc.

This college is not for those who want to study.

Placements: Regarding placement, this college is not too good; they bring mostly sales companies for technical students, which is very disappointing, and the package offered to the students is too disappointing; only 3-4 companies come with the package of 10+ LPA. Otherwise, most companies are with the offer of 3-4 LPA.
