AI Unite Hackathon Concludes with Innovations and Exciting Wins!

July 23, 2024: The AI Unite Hackathon, spearheaded by Meghdut Roychowdhury, Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Director of Techno India Group, culminated on Jul 9 with an exciting finale. After receiving over 90 global submissions, the top teams were invited to pitch their ideas to a distinguished panel of judges and representatives from Google India.

September 20, 2023: Techno India Group hosted a touching student exchange programme between India and Vietnam, establishing a healthy cultural connection between the two countries. The event, hosted at the Techno India Main Campus in Salt Lake City, highlighted the unique tapestry of cultures, values, cuisines, and lifestyles shared by students from these varied origins.In August 2023, Techno India University welcomed six Vietnamese students, kicking up a month-long internship programme. The project was spearheaded by India's Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The active participation of Techno India University in the recent Namaste Vietnam Programme in Saigon provided the groundwork for this wonderful exchange. The Vietnamese students participated in short-term research projects during their stay.

The programme began with students from both countries discussing their experiences and views into Indian living. The Vietnamese students emphasised the Indian students' characteristics of compassion, kindness, and cooperation. They also commended their academic understanding, particularly in areas such as machine learning and cancer therapies. This cultural interchange went beyond academia, touching on traditions, morals, and daily life.  The Vietnamese students were treated to a delightful culinary journey, relishing Indian delicacies such as Biryani, Chicken Roll, Rasgullas, and Momos. They also had the chance to explore iconic landmarks in Kolkata, including the Victoria Memorial, Coffee House, College Street bookstores, and a memorable stay in the Sundarbans at the Jhore Jole Jongole resort. In turn, Indian students shared their appreciation for Vietnamese culture and traditions, particularly their national attire, Ao dai, and cuisine.

Both groups of students were charmed by the natural beauty of their own countries and created a strong bond with one another's cultures. Dr. Avijit Kar, Dr. Soumendu Ganguly, Dr. Dipankar Dey, and Dr. Kishore Ray were among the Vietnamese students who expressed gratitude to their mentors for their guidance and support throughout the programme. April 26, 2022: Techno India University, one of the country's leading educational, scientific, and technological institutions, has announced the opening of a Certificate Program in Family Business Management and an MBA in Family Business and Entrepreneurship.

These two cutting-edge programmes were introduced at a Global Summit hosted by The School of Management at Techno India University in West Bengal and co-hosted by Bengal Business Council with Daffodil International University in Bangladesh as the Strategic Partner for the benefit of family-owned businesses looking to incorporate professional expertise and emerging business concepts and practicalities.

The Certificate Course on Managing Family Businesses is designed to raise awareness about the opportunities, characteristics, and challenges unique to family businesses, as well as to develop organisational, strategic, internationalisation, and succession capabilities in family businesses at various stages of their growth and evolution. This programme will teach family business owners and managers how to build on and leverage their businesses' unique strengths, as well as think through and develop appropriate solutions to address the complexities, uncertainties, and challenges they face in order to achieve long-term growth, wealth creation across generations, and professional talent attraction and retention.

The whole course period is 12 months, with 6 months of foundational knowledge classes. Internships are six months long and take place in prominent and profitable family-owned businesses.

MBA in Family Business and Entrepreneurship programme is based on insights from family business research, case studies of problems experienced by family businesses and entrepreneurship ventures (small, medium and large) around conflicts over priorities, tensions between existential and normative tasks, pursuing opportunities amidst resource constraints, environmental scanning and developing/ expanding relevant capabilities, deciding on organisational issues that arise from task, people and culture, resolving growth stalls, evaluating international business opportunities, professional talent management, and addressing problems of succession.

The goal is to encourage entrepreneurship and expand and modernise family businesses in order to make them successful and growth-oriented, as well as to assist family-owned businesses in understanding the changing dynamics of competition and organisation brought on by liberalisation, privatisation, and globalisation. The goal of the programme is to create a collaborative relationship between family company owners, managers, and TIUWB.

The programme has a two-year duration and is divided into four semesters. 1st year (1st & 2nd semesters): Introduction, foundational and theoretical pedagogy through classroom lectures and project assignments; 2nd year: Situational and Experiential learning through analysing and proposing solutions to real-world problems faced by family business owners and entrepreneurs through direct interaction and the preparation of a business plan (3rd & 4th semesters).

May 31, 2021: ‘Skill Development Committee of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry’ hosted 'The Skill Conclave and Awards 2020-2021' at Williamson Magor Hall, the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry's premises. The award for ‘Best Institute for Entrepreneurship Development 2020-21’ went to Techno India Group. Techno India University in West Bengal was founded under the Techno India Group's auspices. Smt Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, had envisioned it as one of her dream projects. The university is a world-renowned institute in the fields of education, research, and technology. It was the state's first private university.

Techno India University Organises Conference on Blue Economy

March 11, 2021: Techno India University recently organised a two-day virtual national conference on March 6 and 7. Industry experts, professionals, academicians and researchers who were invited to the conference discussed the Blue Economy, its challenges and prospects in detail.

The blue economy principle confirms marine economic growth, which eliminates environmental risks and detrimental environmental impacts. Sharing the idea with the public, the conference explored the concepts of the blue economy, ocean management analysis, blue carbon, threats, and creative coastal livelihoods.

The speakers included professors Goutam Roy Chowdhury and Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, along with conference innovators Meghdut Roy Chowdhury and Pauline Laravoire. The guests included heads of government departments working to develop the blue economy in India, university leaders, scholars, faculty members and students.

The first day of the conference focused at bringing the blue economy to the audience, focusing on aspects relating to technology, engineering, marketing, psychology and sociology, while the second day featured more technical workshops, presentations of scientific papers and discussions.

Further to the "Green Economy" movement with respect to the blue economy philosophy, Techno India University Vice-Chancellor Goutam Sengupta said: "In line with the noble ideas of our iconic professor Goutam Roy Chowdhury, the university has made a commitment to remove poverty from humanity through the introduction of hundreds of blue projects in the coming years."
