Review of UEM Kolkata - University of Engineering and Management.
Placements: This is what made UEM special. The faculty rating is 4 out of 5 because, in Kolkata, there are colleges with an average package of 3 or 3.5 LPA. The college claims 99% placements, but it is 30-70%. In 2024, Jaypee Morgan hired some students with a salary package of 20 LPA. A student got placed at Amazon with a salary package of 48 LPA. When it comes to placement in Kolkata, UEM is the best college.
Infrastructure: There is the worst campus in Kolkata. Many colleges are spread over 100 acres of land. Our campus is spread over 2 acres of land but on the internet, it shows 3 acres. It is not true. Our college has 3 buildings with 4 floors. They are interconnected. UEM has 4 different hostels in different places. There are 2 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels. They just lend a building outside anywhere in Kolkata, and make it as a boys' hostel. There is no college life to enjoy. This is the worst part. The college is till 7 PM. It is a headache for an engineering student.
Faculty: The faculty of UEM gives students a reality check while teaching. We have extra subjects, which I like because they train students' minds like aptitude and logical reasoning. It improves students' general brain power.
Other: Our college does not conduct extra activities.

This is my experience at UEM Kolkata.
Placements: This year, the placement records are really good! Official numbers are not published yet, but almost everyone I know got placed. TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, LTI MindTree, and lots of other big IT companies came for placements. The highest salary package offered is 48 LPA from Amazon Inc., and many students get packages of around 20 LPA.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is top-notch, a 5GB file downloads in just 2 minutes. Labs are well-maintained, and every component is working properly. They have plenty of spare components too, so if something breaks, it can be fixed immediately. This year, they replaced all the computers with HP EliteDesk PCs, and they're awesome! Library has almost every book related to engineering, management, and competitive exams. It is fully air-conditioned and stays open 24/7.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful. They give extra insights even after college hours and take personal care of students. They are good at technology and use great PPTs that they share later. Semester exams are average. Course curriculum makes students to be industry-ready. There are mandatory industrial training classes that other colleges do not offer at this level or even higher level.
Other: There are Teach Fest, Literature Fest, and Cultural Fest events. Lots of events are conducted where they book the outdoor auditorium. Each department regularly conducts projects and poster competitions, keeping students engaged. Campus might not have space for a football field or cricket pitch, but it’s well-maintained. They use the basement for football and cricket matches or other games. Many students plays there. There’s a full-size basketball court and a small area for cricket. That also serves as a spot for meetings and hanging out.

My honest review of my college.
Placements: I think around 70% of the current batch students were placed in a well-to-do company. But many couldn't because of the lack of job offers and companies that are not currently looking to employ people. Top recruiters were Cognizant, Infosys, and TCS. All types of roles were offered, both technical and non-technical. For internships, students have to look for them themselves because companies don't visit our college to hire interns.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is small but sufficient. Everything a student could ask for other than a bigger campus is there in our college. Wi-Fi, classrooms, library, gym, canteen, hall, etc., are all provided by the management. Out of 5, I would give it a 3 because of the slow Wi-Fi speed and the quality of classrooms.
Faculty: All the teachers taking our classes are qualified and knowledgeable. The curriculum is quite relevant, but I don't think it's very helpful. Students have to work their way through to get a proper job. The college won't provide you with all the necessary things you need. At the end of the day, it's all up to you.

Life at University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata.
Placements: This year, around 80-90% of students are placed from UEM Kolkata. In terms of placements, this college is very good, so we need not have to worry about that. Companies like TCS, Accenture, Infosys, Cognizant, Godrej Infotech, Mindtree, and many others come to recruit students from this college.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure here is not good. The campus has 3 buildings connected to each other. One building is of 4 floors, and the other two are of 5 floors. There is no ground for sports or a garden to hang out with friends. Hostel facility is not available inside the campus. Hostels are available outside the campus which is 2 km away. The hostel building is very small and has only 4 floors. Rooms are small too. The food quality is really bad. There is no campus life in this college.
Faculty: Curriculum at this college is pretty similar to other colleges; there is not much difference. All the faculty members are good and highly qualified. Many of them are from IITs and have Ph.D. degrees. If someone is planning to join this college, then be prepared because they will have to attend a lot of exams each semester. There are 2 mid-term theory exams and two mid-term practical exams, plus a final theory and practical exam too.

Our college provides students with good placements and facilities.
Placements: Almost 80% of students got placements in our course. The highest salary package offered is 72 LPA. The average salary package offered is 70 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. Almost 85% of students got internships and placements from our course.
Infrastructure: Facilities in our college are very good. They provide students with free Wi-Fi, labs, clean classrooms, a library, and very good hostel facilities. They provide good food and a playground. Sports and games are available. We have medical facilities
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is also very good. This course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. It is a little bit difficult to pass semester exams but if students study well, then it will be very easy for them. The pass percentage for the semester is 60%.
Other: I like engineering, so I chose this course. The best thing about our course is coding. I wish coding would be improved in our course. Events and festivals are held. We have connectivity. Scholarships are provided in our college.

I am not satisfied because of placements.
Placements: In our course, this year 50% of students were placed. I don't know about the package limits. The highest and lowest salary packages offered range between 3 LPA - 9 LPA. TCS, Cognizant, and Wipro are mass recruiters. Around 10% of students got internships at TCS and Wipro. Top roles offered are software engineer and backend engineer.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are okay, but air-conditioners are a benifit. Labs are quite good. Computer labs are very good. The library is decent with all facilities. Hostels are expensive but average. The quality of the food in the canteen is average. The mess is not good. Medical facilities are average. There is no place for sports and games. We have a ground and basement for basketball.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is moderate here. Students also need self study to keep up with the teaching. Course curriculum is not relevant much here. Students are not made industry-ready. Semesters are difficult here. Pass percentage is about 70%.
Other: I chose this course because I like developing something on my own. The best thing about our course is its versatility. We can migrate to any field from this course. Events are good here. The campus crowd is huge. Scholarships are decent. Extracurricular activities are conducted in our college.
