Subjects of study 

One gets to study different subjects along with Science subjects in an Integrated BSc degree, which is not the case with a regular BSc degree. 

Course duration

Q:   Can I get IISER Pune with 120 marks?

A:
According to the IISER Pune cutoff for 2023, the Round 1 closing rank for the General All India category student seeking admission to the BS-MS Dual Degree programme was 175. In comparison, the Round 1 closing ranks for 2022 and 2021 were 534 and 529, respectively. This suggests that a student with a rank of 120 or lower has a good chance of getting admitted to IISER Pune.

Q:   What is the eligibility for NEST exam?

A:

The NEST 2024 eligibility criteria is defined on both basis age wise as well education wise.

Admissions in NISER, Bhubaneswar and UM-DAE CEBS, Mumbai are done based on a candidate's score in the NEST exam. Candidates who have passed Class XII from the Science stream are eligible to apply for the NEST exam. 

Candidates should pass Class XII in Science stream from a recognised board in India with at least 60% aggregate marks (55% for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates). Candidates should have passed Class XII either last year or will pass this year.

Q:   Am I eligible for the NEST exam in 2024? I am 23 years old.

A:

Applicants who want to appear in the NEST 2024 exam. The General and OBC category candidates born on or after August 01, 2004, are eligible for admission to the Integrated MSc programmes of NISER/CEBS. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC / ST / Divyangjan candidates.

Students are advised to check their category before applying for the NEST exam. Candidates need to fill NEST application form to appear for the exam. 

Step 1: Apply for Admission - Candidates first need to apply to the respective university/ colleges on their admission page. For this, they need to register online and pay the application fee as required.

Step 2: Download Admit Card - After this, the entrance exam conducting authority will issue admit cards to the successful applicants. The admit card will mention details about the exam centre location, exam timings, date and details about the candidate who is appearing for the entrance exam.

Q:   Is Biology compulsory for NEST exam?

A:

For entrance exam since marks from three section are considered hence it can be said that it not compulsory. In the NEST exam your marks will be considered from any of 3 subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. but if you know basics it will help you to secure marks and for further study during campus classes.

In first year after joining NISER you would be taught basic biology. In fact many students who did not have biology in class 12 and did fairly well in the biology exams during first year.

Q:   Can I get into IISER Tirupati - Indian Institute of Science Education & Research with 70% in JEE Mains?

A:

Getting into IISER Tirupati - Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER Tirupati) with a 70% in JEE Mains is possible but not guaranteed. The institute considers JEE Mains rank along with other factors such as IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) score, academic performance, and interview performance for admissions.

While a 70% in JEE Mains is a respectable score, it may not be sufficient to secure a rank within the range typically considered for admission to IISER Tirupati. The exact cut-offs vary from year to year, but they generally fall in the range of 95-97 percentile.

To increase your chances of getting into IISER Tirupati, consider the following strategies:

  1. Perform well in the IAT: The IAT is specifically designed to assess candidates' aptitude and problem-solving skills in Science subjects. Practice for the IAT and aim for a high score.

  2. Maintain a strong academic record: IISER Tirupati considers academic performance throughout school, particularly in Science subjects. Ensure you have a strong overall academic record.

Q:   Will I get a direct admission in LPU with 65 % marks in Class 12?

A:

No, Lovely Professional University does not offer direct admission. However, there are few courses to which admission is merit-based.  Aspirants scoring a 65% aggregate have a good chance of getting admission in LPU. Candidates seeking admission must visit the official website of the university to apply online. To apply for LPU, aspirants need to register for LPUNEST for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. LPU admission to most of the courses is based on LPUNEST score. However, national-level entrance exam scores are also accepted for admission to BA LLB (Hons), MBA, BTech, etc. Candidates must complete Class 12 for UG courses and graduation for PG courses. The selection rounds are followed by counselling and document verification.

Q:   Is there any optional subject in the NEST exam?

A:

Though there are not any optional subject in the NEST exam, applicants who will appear in the exam are advised to solve questions from all four section as their marks from top 3 sections will be taken into consideration for their result declaration. 

The language of NEST exam will be in English only. Applicants who want to appear in the exam must solve NEST previous year paper to increase their chances of qualifying the exam.

Q:   What is the marks required for IISER Pune BS-MS course?

A:

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune has released the cut off marks for the BS-MS (Dual Degree) course for the academic year 2024-25. The cut off marks for IISER Pune BS-MS course are category-wise and are based on the marks obtained in the KVPY, SCB, and JEE (Advanced) examinations. As per the IISER Pune cutoff 2024, the Round 1 closing rank for most of the BS-MS specialisations stand closed at 259 for the General All India category students. During the IISER Pune cutoff 2023, the last round closing cutoff was 175 for the BS-MS Dual Degree courses. Comparing the latest year cutoff with the previous year data, IISER Pune witnessed an inclining trends for the BS-MS course. 

Step 4: Check the qualifying status for the entrance exam - The exam authority then declares the results of the entrance exam and, merit/ rank list mentioning names of the shortlisted candidates who fulfil the cut-off criteria. 

Step 5: Participate in the selection rounds - The candidates who meet the cut-off criteria and are shortlisted in the merit list have to appear for the counselling procedure. The candidates are allotted seats are per the merit list and, after verifying documents pertaining to eligibility. Thereafter, the candidates pay the admission fee and, report to the colleges as allotted.
