Mystory@M S Nayak: My career gave me the opportunity to serve people

In my time, there were limited options in academic streams. Since my elder brother had selected Science stream, I had to opt for Commerce. The college where I studied (Milagrese College, Kallianpur) had a well-reputed Commerce department.

I belong to the district which is the birth place for five major banks and hence the obvious choice was a bank job. If I were a student in this age, I would have either opted for graduation in Law or a degree in Engineering with MBA in Finance. Reason being, I would have been independent and also could have contributed to the well-being of general public.

I am satisfied with career I chose because I have been a successful banker and reached the top management post. Added to this, I got the opportunity to deal in both domestic banking as well as international banking. I believe even today banking segment is one of the best segments which provides you an opportunity to deal with the down trodden and the richest in the society. This field also enabled me to serve the people to the best of my best ability and satisfaction. As I traveled across India and abroad my family members got good exposure of different cultures and people across. My children developed the adaptability to different climatic conditions and also people which imbibed the courage and boldness to face varied situations. Personally also I could gain knowledge of various segments like Industries, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Hospitality, Small Scale Industries, Rural Environment, Urban Realty etc. This also helped me establish a long relationship with different people who are still in touch with me for guidance, support, advise, etc. I have a lot of success stories to my credit. I have remained transparent and dedicated with utmost honesty which is still being regarded and respected. I could help lot of youngsters to shape their carrier.
