The Road from Loneliness to Friendship in Gandhinagar

I left my hometown and went to Gandhinagar in July 2022. As an introvert, it was difficult for me to make new bonds. College seemed like a haunted place for some weeks. Eventually, I got to interact with many people and made good friends here.

From Class 12 to College: Pursuing My Passion for Geography

I was a 17-year-old boy with anxiety and overthinking issues. I scored 76% marks in Class 12, which was quite good. Everyone was happy with that, therefore, I was happy too. Since Class 8, I have been interested in Geography. The earth, the atmosphere, and everything about it fascinated me. As a result, I decided to pursue an undergraduate course in Geography. There are only four districts in Gujarat that offer an undergraduate courses in Geography. So, I had to leave my hometown to pursue my dream.

I always knew that I wanted to do something related to Earth Science, and choosing Geography was the first thing that came in my mind.

A Campus I Didn't Like, A Subject I Loved: My Geography Story at GAC

I really wanted to get admitted to Gujarat University Campus, but the university was only offering an undergraduate course integrated with a postgraduate course. However, I was not sure whether I wanted to do a post-graduation or not. So, I chose Government Arts College (GAC) and went to the college for counseling. To be very honest, I was disappointed after seeing the campus for the first time. I did not like the college at that time.

I chose Geography as a major subject along with Economics and English as minor subjects. The discipline as a whole seemed really interesting. It made me curious about my future possibilities. I did not like the college at first glance. But then I got to meet the teaching staff of the college, and they were very sweet, kind, and helpful to me. The teaching staff is the only aspect that I liked about this college and that is what made me survive in this boring campus. The basics of Physical and Cultural Geography is taught to students during the first year of the program. The GIS professional community consists of Technicians and Analysts, Disaster Preparedness Planners, Teachers, Environmental Scientists, Remote Sensing Analysts, Transportation Planners, Demographers, Hydrologists, and many other disciplines.

SAPTDHARA: A Creative Fusion

Recently, our annual cultural festival named SAPTDHARA was held. It was an average event. We enjoyed various activities by the students there, such as dancing, singing, skits, essay writing, logo making, and speech.

Future Ambitions:

I am hoping to complete my degree with good academic and co-curricular achievements. I am ready to face new challenges and looking forward to having a good and high-paying job.
