L.D. Arts College

Established in 1937, LD Arts College is a private college that is managed by Ahmedabad Education Society that has total 20 institutes under its ambit. LD Arts College is the biggest college in the city that also houses the largest IGNOU and BAOU centres. It is accredited by the NAAC with Grade ‘A’ and was ranked 62 for Arts by India Today in 2019. Candidates seeking admission to LD Arts College must register online through its official website. The admission form costs Rs 10. Candidates are shortlisted for admission to BA and MA programmes based on their merit in the previous qualification. For admission to PhD, candidates are shortlisted based on fulfilment of eligibility criteria. Further, a PI round is held as a final selection process for seat allotment. LD Arts College Courses

LD Arts College offers three courses, including BA, MA and PhD. The duration of the BA programme is three years and that of the MA programme is two years. The first two years of BA has an interdisciplinary approach, wherein the students have to study a wide range of foundation courses, including Gujarati, Indian Epic Tradition and Environmental Science. Also, students need to compulsorily study soft skill courses, namely History of Ahmedabad, Leadership Development and Value Oriented Education. In the third year, the students can choose electives from English or Statistics.

Similarly, in the MA programme, students have to study the foundation and soft skill courses, irrespective of the chosen specialisation. The second year of the programme offers an in-depth study of subjects in the core discipline. Both BA and MA programmes are taught in English & Gujarati medium. LD Arts College also offers a three-year PhD course in two specialisations. The programme is taught only in English medium. LD Arts College has a placement cell that assists the students in their career settlements. The college with the help of the placement cell attracts both public and private organisations.
