The classes have started from today itself in the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Management Studies, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Unani Medicine.

All examinations in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have been postponed. The decision was given a nod in a meeting by the deans of faculties, principals of colleges and polytechnics and other functionaries under the guidance of Professor Tariq Mansoor, the Vice-Chancellor on January 15. The exams were scheduled after the reopening of the University following the extended winter vacations. AMU’s Public Relations Office informed that the fresh schedule of the remaining examinations would be prepared by the concerned Deans/Principals and would be notified individually.

However, the controller of examinations at AMU informed that there will not be any change in the schedule of the classes. The classes have started from today itself in the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Management Studies, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Unani Medicine.

In Faculties of Law, Commerce, Science, Life Sciences and Agricultural Sciences, the classes will begin on January 20. On the other hand, in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, International Studies and Theology, Polytechnics and the Community College, the classes will begin on January 24.

The exams, which had started before the beginning of winter vacation, were postponed after a student protest which turned violent. The violence began when a group of students tried to hold a march for their counterparts in Jamia Millia Islamia. The winter vacation in AMU was stretched till January 12.
