Earlier, the UGC approved 38 universities to run courses for Online Programmes including three Central Universities JMI, JNU and AMU.
The UGC has approved AMU to run the maximum number of courses in the updated list of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) entitled to start full-fledged Online Programmes the Centre for Distance Education and Online Education, Aligarh Muslim University, which has submitted the affidavit ensuring the compliance to University Grants Commission (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020. Earlier, the UGC approved 38 universities to run courses for Online Programmes including three Central Universities JMI, JNU and AMU. Reports suggest that CDOE (AMU) has got approval to run courses for Online Programmes which is the maximum among all the universities.
The UGC has made the notification for starting the full-fledged Online Programmes by the HEI’s which fulfils all the requirements laid down by UGC online regulation 2020. On June 11, 2021, the UGC after getting the approval from the expert committee of the online programmes made a notification vide F.No. 1-14/2020 (DEB-1). Talking about the approval received from UGC to offer a maximum number of online courses, AMU Vice Chancellor Prof Tariq Mansoor expressed his satisfaction that has been made by the university in launching the online programme.
Expressing his confidence, Vice-Chancellor expressed that AMU will try to cater for the students from every section of the society with an affordable fee structure so that the education reaches every door of the country. He further added, there is a plan to enrol students from abroad for these online courses.
AMU Admissions 2021 for online courses has already commenced the approved courses for online programmes by UGC. These are available on the official website, i.e. www.cdeamu.ac.in.
