Andhra Pradesh government to open 30 Skill Development colleges on October 2

The government in July had decided to focus on skill development and job orientation in Higher Education. The skill development colleges will start functioning from October 2 onwards.

Andhra Pradesh government has announced that it has planned to build 30 Skill Development colleges in the state. The state government has decided to open one college for each parliamentary constituency in the state. These colleges will play a key role in providing human resources to industries of the state.

The decision to build colleges was reviewed by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy along with the officials. The government in July had decided to focus on skill development and job orientation in Higher Education. The skill development colleges will start functioning from October 2 onwards. These colleges will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

The state government has given the task of honing the skills of youngsters to AP State Skill Development Corporation, APSSDC officials, and others. The APSSDC officials will study the curriculum and other aspects of Centurion University in Bhubaneswar that implemented various skill development courses in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation.

As per the media report, the standards of these 30 skill development colleges will be followed as per the University. Minister for Industries and Information Technology Mekapati Goutham Reddy back in July had said that the funds contributed by the companies under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) were to be used for setting up the colleges.

The state government is also planning to introduce LKG (Lower Kindergarten) and UKG (Upper Kindergarten) in the form of Pre Primary PP 1 and PP 2 in Government schools besides placing Anganwadis adjacent to the schools.
