AICTE Honours Coordinators and Participants of Inaugural QIP-PG Certificate Programme

AICTE recently felicitated the coordinators and participants of the inaugural batch of the QIP-PG Certificate Programme, celebrating their contributions and achievements in this pioneering educational initiative. Check details here

At a ceremony at the AICTE Headquarters, coordinators from 21 host institutes were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the successful delivery of the AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme in Emerging Areas. This event celebrated the completion of the first batch of the program, designed to enhance the academic development of faculty in core engineering disciplines. The certificates were presented by Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, with Vedant Ahluwalia, Managing Director of Dataviv Technologies, also in attendance. Over 500 faculty members who completed the program were present at the event.

In his address at the ceremony, Prof. T.G. Sitharam highlighted the significance of the AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme, emphasizing that the specialized training offered through the program empowers faculty with advanced knowledge and skills in cutting-edge fields such as AI, ML, Cyber Security, Blockchain, Semiconductors, and other emerging areas. He noted that this expertise will be passed on to students, further enriching the core engineering curriculum.

Prof. Sitharam stated, “This program is designed to equip our faculty members with the expertise required to teach emerging fields effectively. We are also recognizing the AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate in Emerging Areas as a qualification for faculty members to teach related subjects in undergraduate engineering programs. By adding value and creating practical applications, these faculty members will help popularize core engineering disciplines.”

Prof. Sitharam also revealed that in 2025, AICTE will launch management programs in collaboration with IIMs and other top 50 business schools ranked under the NIRF. He further shared that existing engineering and technology programs may be expanded through institutes such as IISERs, IITs, IIITs, NITs, and NIDs, all of which are ranked in the top 100 NIRF. "Each center will be authorized to offer up to two programs, with a total of 100 programs anticipated for the academic year 2025-26," he added.

Emphasizing the transformative impact of the AICTE-QIP-PG Programme, Vedant Ahluwalia highlighted how rapidly technology is evolving, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI). He remarked, “In just the past six months, AI has advanced at a pace that is ten times faster than the technological progress we’ve seen over the last decade. This rapid evolution is why it’s crucial that our students are equipped with knowledge in emerging fields like AI and machine learning to tackle the challenges of the future.”

AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme

Launched in May 2024, the AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme was delivered in a hybrid format, comprising 4 weeks of on-campus sessions followed by online learning. Successful completion of the program awarded participants 18 credits, allowing them to engage in both undergraduate and postgraduate-level courses. The program was hosted by 21 institutions, including IITs, IIITs, and IISc, in 2024. Out of 994 participants, 927 completed the program under the AICTE-sponsored category, while 67 were self-financed. The first batch successfully concluded the program in December 2024.
