Coronavirus: J&K education department to conduct television classes for students

Amid closure of educational institutions across the Valley, Directorate of School Education Kashmir has decided to start conducting classes on television for students through local cable channels.

In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, all institutions including schools, colleges, and universities are closed. The disease has ruptured the education system around the globe. Institutions are shutting down, examinations are suspended, students are asked to vacate hostels, and restrictions are put on visitors to control the spread of the epidemic. Amid closure of educational institutions across the Valley, Directorate of School Education Kashmir has decided to start conducting classes on television for students through local cable channels.

However, earlier the department settled on the distribution of home assignments and study material for students. The initiative came in days after the distribution of study material.

Talking about the move to curb the loss of studies and time, Director School Education Kashmir Muhammad Younis Malik stated that the department will telecast classes in all districts through local TV channels.

The department has shared the idea of telecasting classes on television with Doordarshan as well. A proposal has been submitted stating the due to coronavirus outbreak, educational institutions are shut all across Jammu and Kashmir.

The department has requested Doordarshan, if some experienced and skilled teachers could be made available to impart education to the students through DD Kendra Srinagar, Kashir channel, the students at their homes could get a lot of benefits and academic losses could be compensated to a great extent

First positive case of coronavirus has been reported in Kashmir-Khanyar, Srinagar. The infected person has a history of foreign travel, who arrived in the country on March 16. While the person has been put in isolation, the authorities have started surveillance in nearby areas. People with symptoms are requested to report immediately.
