The war against coronavirus is becoming prolonged and continuation of classes in schools, colleges and coaching centres is not a probability in the near future. Amid this, several educational institutes are relying on virtual classes to ensure completion of the syllabus. Online classrooms are being held by using tools such Skype, Google Hangouts and Zoom. Students and teachers have been urged to remain online during school hours. Lucknow University has issued e-content on its website and has urged students to carry on studies online. Teachers have been told to constantly update and upload content related to their subjects.

Since Monday, a private school on Rae Bareli road has been holding online classes for classes 9 and 10. Children in junior classes are being assigned work to do from home and have the option of contacting their teachers to solve problems. Meanwhile, a teacher from the school stated that virtual education was not as easy as it appeared. According to her, teaching online was not as efficient. Sometimes, students tend to mute teachers or each other.

Since experiments cannot be done online, virtual classes are a problem for science students. Students are meant to be physically present to fathom the subject. The teacher of another eminent school informed that group discussions would become a joke. He stated that students were not going by the format of the group discussion and marking becomes tedious. In Varanasi, some schools have ordered teachers to be present in the school so that students can call up or connect online to solve their problems.
