COVID-19: Jharkhand closes educational institutions till April 14

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren declared shut down of all educational institutions in Jharkhand till April 14. The shutdown would be applicable on government and private educational institutions alike.

As a precautionary step in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren declared to shut down all educational institutions in Jharkhand till April 14. Speaking in the Jharkhand assembly, he asserted that the shutdown would be applicable on government and private educational institutions alike. Apart from this, coaching centres and hostels would also face a lockdown from March 17 onwards. However, he informed that students from the poor family background would be permitted to stay in hostels. The state government will look after them.  

Apart from this, he also informed the house that the government would not organise any conferences till April 14. Moreover, all museums, zoos and parks will be shut down till then. To deal with any untoward situation, Rs 200 crore has been allocated towards spending pertaining to the tests and establishment of other apparatus to deal with any situation. The government will evaluate the situation after a fortnight to take suitable resolutions. He also informed that guidelines would be issued to all private institutions not to cut pay of their employees if anybody did not come for duty on due to coronavirus. 

The CM informed that 175 of an overall 488 people who returned home in the state did not reflect any symptoms of the virus. On the other hand, remaining people were under close observation. He further told that overall 300 doctors and medical staff had been trained to tackle the situation. All the Deputy Commissioners have been authorised to implement efficiently the Epidemic Act. The government has planned to establish distinct isolation places for children.
