DSEU has joined hands with the Logistics Sector Skill Council by signing an MoU in order to launch these two programmes.

The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University has announced an industry tie-up for apprenticeship embedded courses. The varsity has collaborated this time for programmes in Bachelor in Management Studies (BMS) inland transportation and e-commerce. Last month, the university had announced that it will be introducing Graduate Apprenticeship programmes for three of its courses.

Now, DSEU has joined hands with the Logistics Sector Skill Council by signing an MoU in order to launch these two programmes. The programme offers industry exposure to the students. There will be one year of apprenticeship embedded with the three years of the study programmes with an aim to give “real time industry exposure” to the students. According to the university, after completing the programmes, students will be capable and skilled enough to be employed in the industry at the entry-level of the managerial cadre.

According to Indian Express, speaking at the signing of the MoU, Captain T S Ramanujam, chairman of the Logistics Sector Skill Council said that BMS inland transportation and e-commerce are the two most sought after courses in the logistics sector.

“The Logistics sector is one of the largest employers with over 40 million employed, but experiences wide shortages in terms of a skilled workforce. A program like this will most certainly bridge the demand-supply mismatch and pave the way for a qualitative workforce,” he said

While talking to shiksha.com about DSEU’s plans to make its students industry reads, DSEU VC, Niharika Vohra said, “DSEU is already merged with the industry. Our courses have been designed in which students spend half of their time in the industry. All our curriculum is half industry, half academic. We are always connected with the industry while designing the courses. For every course, some part of the delivery will be managed by the industry people. For every course, we are mandating guest lectures from faculty. We are also planning to take students for real-life projects. There are some courses in which we are planning not to start with theory in the first semester, for example, the first three months of our beauty and aesthetics courses would include practice in the industry. Students would also get stipends under the same. DSEU placement will be conducted in time but by that time, the students would already get so much exploration in the industry that they will be employed in no time.”
