I am Pritha Mandal, a student of Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College. I passed my higher secondary and secondary education from Sivasankar Uchcha Balika Bidyapith and Onda High School. Now, I am a third-year student pursuing my B.Tech degree in the Information Technology department at B.C. Roy College.

Best of Both Worlds

My college is the perfect blend of academic excellence and practical exposure. The college provides a solid foundation in Engineering with a strong focus on technology.

The college has experienced faculty, advanced labs, and a curriculum that stays updated with the latest industry trends. I feel that this is the perfect environment for me to grow and develop essential IT skills. The college also encourages us to engage in extracurricular activities, which helps us for my future career goals.

Choosing IT as a Career 

Choosing Information Technology as my course of study was not an overnight decision. In my school years, when I was in class 10 and 12, I had an interest in Mathematics and Science. I realised that IT would be a good fit for me. After completing my board exams, I began to research about many Engineering Colleges. I found out that B.C. Roy College is one of the best, and its reputation and quality education are the best as well. For admission, I took the WBJEE and scored well enough to secure a seat here. This college was my top choice.

Technology has always intrigued me, but the more I study IT, the more passionate I become about it. I am interested in coding and programming languages. During my course, I have learned about  various programming languages, databases, and web development. I am excited about contributing to technological advancements, whether by developing new software or solving data-related challenges through improved applications.  
College life has not only provided me with academic knowledge but also helped me grow as a person. Managing projects, assignments, and extracurricular activities has improved my time management and organisational skills. The college encourages students to explore their creative side. Being the one who loves drawing, singing, and playing guitar, I have had the opportunity to participate in cultural events. College life also taught me the importance of balancing working and play. 

Experience at the College 

Admission at Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College required focus and determination. I prepared the WBJEE with the help of some reference books in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. When I was considering other Engineering colleges, the first one that came to mind was Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College because of its reputation and facilities.  
Life at college has given me a lot of creativity and friendships. I spend most of my time attending lectures and working on projects. But, I also make sure to participate in cultural events, college fests, and other programs. In college, I feel more confident, independent, and ready to face the challenges of the IT industry in the coming years. 

Reflecting on My Choices 

While choosing the course, one of the biggest problems I faced was narrowing down which Engineering College would be the best fit for me. 

Another issue was the pressure of preparing for WBJEE. Preparing for the exam while managing my school studies was challenging. 
While choosing a college, Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College stood out because of its strong reputation and good career prospects it offers in the IT field. This college felt like the best option due to its facilities. Choosing this course and this college has been a rewarding decision, and I am confident that it will help me achieve my career goals.
