Teachers' Day 2021: Education Minister awards 20 teachers for contribution to technical, management education

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan distributed AICTE awards among 20 teachers of engineering and technical and management education on September 5, 2021 (Teachers’ Day).

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) nominated 20 faculty members from across the country for the awards. The AICTE- Visvesvaraya Best Teacher Award was given to 17 faculty members in the field of engineering and technology. The award is given to recognise excellence, best practices and innovations of teachers in the field of technical education at national-level degree and diploma institutions. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 along with a medal and certificate of excellence. 

However, the AICTE-Dr Pritam Singh Best Teacher Award in management education was given to three faculty members. Along with this, Chhatra Vishwakarma Award was given to 24 teams of students. The theme of the award this year was India’s Economic Recovery Post COVID: Reverse migration and rehabilitation plan”. Clean and Smart Campus Award, 2020, was conferred upon 13 technical institutes. 

Congratulating the awardees, Pradhan said, “The new National Education Policy is expected to revolutionise the educational sector in India and lay the path for the next 25 years as per the Vision 2047 of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He stressed that education has to make each one of us more responsible and become Global Citizen.” 

He even congratulated the teachers by posting their pictures on his Twitter handle. He also applauded the AICTE for conducting the award function and recognising the efforts of the teachers. He also praised the innovative and creative approach of youth and students.  

The event was attended by the Minister of State for Education, Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh; Secretary, Higher Education, Amit Khare; AICTE Chairman, Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe; AICTE Vice-Chairman, Prof MP Poonia, and Member Secretary, AICTE, Prof Rajive Kumar.
