How JSPM RSCOE is coping up with the current pandemic situation amid COVID-19

Coronavirus, a pandemic that took over the world in January this year, has left many industries handicapped as governments across the world implement lockdowns to contain its spread. A similar lockdown was also imposed in India on March 24 bringing most of the industries to a stop, including the Education sector. While this lockdown delayed some of the events in India’s higher education sector, many institutes switched to online methods so that the students do not lag behind in their curriculum. These include online classes, online submission of admission forms and also, online orientation programmes.

One such institute that took up the challenge to keep the processes going even in times of social distancing and lockdown was JSPM Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering, Pune (RSCOE).

JSPM RSCOE Admission Process 2020

Our admission process starts every year in September and October. Last year, too, our faculty members approached students from various colleges and private coaching classes and organised seminars on career options after Class 12 Science. All these seminars are free and purpose is to create awareness about the Engineering and other streams among the students.

We try to establish good communications with students. Faculty members start guiding them for their Class 12 exams. We share mind relaxation tips, preparation strategy, time management tips to help them organise themselves and perform well in exams.

Apart from this JSPM has developed an application namely JSPM MH-CET-2020, in which various test series for the subject of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are uploaded. For each course, more than 200 questions are there. Students can attempt these test series free of cost and can check their preparation for MH-CET-2020.

During this lockdown period, our faculty members are in regular touch with these Class 12 students and are guiding them as per their requests.

JSPM RSCOE Curriculum-Related Initiatives

Institute has taken the following pro-active measures during the lockdown period to ensure the smooth conduction of academics and other value added activities. All these activities are acutely planned and executed online under the supervision of coordinators and heads of departments.

  1. JSPM is extensively using the Moodle Digital Learning platform to deliver lectures online
  2. All students and faculty members are having their own credentials in order to share and access the copyright digital contents
  3. All digital contents such as notes, presentations, question banks, assignments, quizzes, case studies, lab manuals and course manuals are uploaded
  4. Institute is also using various other digital tools to connect with students such as zoom, webinar, Google classroom and Skype. The schedule for all courses and classes is prepared and executed
  5. Faculty members are preparing presentations on important topics and delivering during these online lectures
  6. Students are given the various tasks such as assignment, quiz, report writing, seminars and they have been motivated to upload the same to Moodle for the assessment
  7. Along with regular lectures on various courses, experts from all renowned industries are interacting with the students and sharing the updates about the cutting edge technologies
  8. Students are also motivated to join for online courses such as MOOCs and NPTEL
  9. Students have joined the free online courses which are started by some industries such as TCS and TATA
