Students pursuing PhD and doing project work at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna can return to the campus. Only those students who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine will be allowed to attend physical classes. 

IIT Patna has announced about reopening its campus for certain students. According to the order issued, students who are pursuing PhD or are doing any project Work, have been allowed to return to the campus for offline classes. For this, the institute has mandated that students must have a taken at least dose of COVID-19 vaccine.  

Offline classes optional: IIT Patna 

Though IIT Patna has started the process of reopening the campus, attendance has not been made mandatory. The institute said that online classes would continue for all students and nobody would be forced to attend offline classes. 

IIT Patna has decided to reopen the campus in a phased manner. According to the order, only those PhD students who have completed four years and those who are carrying out project work have been allowed to return to the campus. This will be executed in the first phase of reopening. In the next phase, students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be allowed to return to the campus for offline classes. 

IIT Patna issues guidelines for attending offline classes 

  • Those who decide to come back to the campus must submit their vaccination certificate to the institute. In case, they are fully vaccinated, the final vaccination certificate will work.
  • Students will also have to submit a negative RT-PCR report as soon as they arrive at the campus. Without this, they will not be allowed to enter the campus.  

IIT Patna is also organising medical camps for students who will be returning to the campus. Those who decide to attend offline classes will first undergo a medical check-up, stay in quarantine for seven days at the allotted place and only then they will be allowed to attend classes. The institute will release details of SOPs soon.
