IIT Patna inaugurated the PHN-IIT Patna Centre of Excellence in Robotics, AI, and IoT to drive research, innovation, and academia-industry collaboration for solving real-world challenges.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna inaugurated the PHN-IIT Patna Centre of Excellence in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT). This visionary initiative aims to advance cutting-edge research and innovation while fostering robust academia-industry collaboration to address real-world challenges. Presiding over the event, Prof. T.N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, highlighted the Centre’s pivotal role in shaping the future of technology and research.
The PHN-IIT Patna Centre of Excellence, established in collaboration with PHN Technology, features state-of-the-art infrastructure for advancing research in robotics, AI, and IoT. The Centre focuses on:
a) Developing innovative, practical solutions for societal and industrial challenges,
b) Training and nurturing the next generation of researchers and technologists, and
c) Strengthening industry-academia partnerships to drive impactful outcomes.
He said, “This Centre exemplifies IIT Patna’s commitment to fostering innovation that addresses societal and industrial needs.” The Chief Guest, Sumit Kumar Singh from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Bihar, highlighted the Centre’s establishment as a pivotal step toward positioning Bihar as a hub for technological innovation.
Prof. Pradip Kumar Jain, Director of NIT Patna, noted the Centre’s potential to contribute to the region’s technological ecosystem. He stated, “Collaborations like this set the foundation for technological growth and skill development, benefiting both academia and industry.” Prof. Nitin Kumar Puri, Executive Director of NIELIT Patna, shared his enthusiasm for the Centre’s focus areas, emphasising its role in creating innovative solutions for industry and society.
Pradip H. Narayankar, Managing Director of PHN Technology, delivered a keynote speech and said, “This Centre bridges the gap between research and application, focusing on innovation that addresses real world problems. At PHN, we are committed to fostering talent and developing solutions that have a meaningful impact,” he stated.
The event witnessed participation from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with notable contributions from Dr. Rahul Mishra and Dr. Arijit Roy in shaping the Centre’s vision and goals. Research scholars, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and faculty members from various departments also attended, showcasing strong support for this transformative initiative.
