Manipur Education Minister, Th Radheshyam launched a dedicated e-learning website for students studying in classes 1 to 12 of Manipur board and council of higher secondary on May 13, 2020.
The Minister also announced that an android app called ‘Lairik’ (books in Manipuri dialect) is also on the way. The Lairik mobile app will also be made available on the Google Playstore within five days and the ios app will be launched within a month.
Talking about the state’s own e-learning portal, the minister stated that the Manipur e-learning websites- http://www.lairik.net and http://www.laireek.net constitute as many as 85 bi-lingual audiovisual classes. The minister further revealed that in order to avoid piracy, the government occupied both the domains. Over 200 subjects for classes 1 to 12 will be added on the portal regularly.
To improve the website and make it student-friendly, the education minister sought suggestions, comments, and constructive criticisms. He asserted, “The launch of the website marks the new chapter in the history of education in Manipur as students can go through the lessons for easier self-learning.”
Underscoring the plight of the private teachers and schools transporter due to the lockdown, he said, “We have issued an instruction to the private schools not to collect school fees but to pay salary to the teachers as well. But not all schools are the same and we are working on bringing an amicable solution.”
With regards to the plight of the transporters, “We will find a solution if we are considerate and take things with extra heart, eyes, and ears”.
Manipur Commission for Child Rights issued strict instructions for transporters carrying school students not to collect transportation fees from parents and guardians.
Stating that the strategy of the government is survival during these difficult times, the minister added, “We will not survive if we do not contribute and (we will have to) work together as a team by leaving behind differences,”
Meanwhile, the minister did not comment on the release dates of Manipur 12th Result 2020 and Manipur HSLC Result 2020.
