AIMED’s Weekly Practice School allows us to undergo two-week classroom learning & training, says Arun
Coming from a rural background, I had limited knowledge of what would be the right path of me and for that which stream should I choose in Class 11. At that time someone had advised my parents to let me take Biology. Later, during my under graduation, I decided to pursue Geography. However, it was a mistake to not pursue the course of interest. When I realised the same, I was in a dilemma about what to do next. So I took a year’s break and pursued photography as my passion. I had no plan to make career in photography.
I was confused about my future and during this time I met a friend who mentioned AIMED - Aachi Institute of Management and Entrepreneurial Development. I checked about the institute and its programmes on the internet and decided to visit the campus. I met the admission counsellors and faculty members who explained to me the benefits of pursuing PGDME programme. I was convinced and decided to join the programme.
Applying for admission in AIMED was not tough. As a part of the admission process, one has to undergo any of the qualifying exam-CAT, MAT or TANCET. Further to the exam, there will be a Personal Interview (PI) round with the Executive Director and the Dean of the institute. The process was easy and felt interesting as the counsellors explained. I figured out my area of interest and had the path to follow. Basis of the counselling experience at AIMED, I did not choose to apply to any other institute.
The curriculum is structured in such a way that it includes 50 per cent each of classroom sessions and practical training. The institute follows Weekly Practice School (WPS). According to the practice, every student undergoes a two-week classroom learning followed by two-week of training in different departments of Aachi Group of Companies. This helps us to understand the real-life practices and culture of the corporate environment. It gives in-depth clarity about the concepts studied in class.
What motivates me the most is the weekly guest lecture. We get a chance to interact with the entrepreneurs, industrialists and sometimes celebrities, who share their life journeys and challenges faced by them. It boosts a lot of confidence to do the best in what we do and also to start a new business.
Monthly student-driven events are organised and the Rotaract club is very much active. It gives us a platform to realise our capabilities and put all leadership and team management skills in practice. I follow my passion for photography in such events.
The complete curriculum and delivery of content have been so effective that it has helped me overcome my weaknesses and has transformed me into a different man. The regular personality developments sessions have helped us improve our behaviour, spoken English and body language.
Upon the successful completion of the course, students are offered jobs in Aachi Group of Companies with the salary package of Rs 3-5 lakhs per annum depending on the performance.
Even though I pursued Geography in under graduation, AIMED helped me learn different functional areas of management such as HR, Marketing, Finance, Logistics and Operations.
I aspire to be an Entrepreneur and want to create a unique brand of my own.
