Faculty at CSA guides us to be successful candidates, says Akshaya Bharathi
I was sure about choosing Design to be my career when I was in my Class 8. And there I chose architecture to be my core subject. I was advised and guided by my teachers and my parents about what steps are to be taken towards the achievement of my goal. I even got to coincidentally meet a person pursuing the same field, who helped me understand the course well. My parents and friends always stood by, encouraging me. Thus, I made a firm decision about my course for the under-graduation degree.
I was certain about the course but wasn’t specific about the college. So I let my parents decide, the college. We went through a few colleges but my parents weren’t convinced. Then one of my friends specified this college ‘Crescent School of Architecture (B.S.Abdur Rahman University’, and we browsed the internet. We felt the place convincing and so planned for a visit. We were very much pleased with the way they treated us during the visit. We had a very friendly treatment and the best part my parents liked was that all our queries were completely answered. Thus, we were very much convinced with the place and got myself enrolled into the college for admission that very day.
I was advised to undergo National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) coaching classes during Class 11 grade. In those training sessions, we had both sketching and theoretical classes. We were taught about the basics of architecture, the perspective drawing, etc.
I cracked the exam and got admission. I was offered admission on the basis of my merit scores and NATA score. The basic eligibility criteria was to score a minimum of 75 marks in NATA and 50 per cent in Class 12 board exams.
I personally never faced any challenge while enrolling myself into the college, since they made the admission process very clear. They made it clear right from the beginning that they expect only the eligible and passionate students. And since I was eligible, I had a smooth admission process.
In our Architecture department, we have studio and lecture hours. We spend maximum time in the studios, space where we work and is more like a friendly zone that give our ideas shape. We always have interesting discussions and suggestions from the faculty members. I would always love to attend my design classes because I can be as creative as I can.
Education is fun when learning turns out to be fun. We learn plenty and also we enjoy. You will be guided to be a successful individual.
This new stage of my life has brought in some changes. I learned that college life is very much different from school life. At this stage I learned to be self-dependent, confident and necessity to make mature decisions.
Not just the subject knowledge but we are also guided to become a successful entrepreneur who can generate employment in the society and look after social issues. The Institute pays special attention to every individual’s growth.
Upon successful completion of my degree, I wish to practice the career under the guidance of some experienced professional architect, learns various aspects of designing and experience the coroporate world. After that, I would definitely pursue the post-graduation in the same domain.
