The college has left no stone unturned to replicate the campus-like experience for us, says Vaibhav
I chose the Science stream after my Class 10 exams. The decision to choose Science in high school was my very own decision as since childhood I had this curiosity to open up machines and find out how they were exactly made. Engineering gave my hobby a direction and let me experiment with machines during the complete tenure of my undergrad days. During graduation days, it is mandatory for each and every student to undergo a four-month internship. I interned with HVACR Industries for four months as a Production Supervisor, which eventually landed me in a full-time job in the steel industry. While I was interning, I observed that to run a production plant or a company one needs to have managerial skills which can give a J-Curve to the organisation’s revenue. This further encouraged me to pursue management studies. While on a hunt for a good management studies college for postgraduation, I came across Mumbai-based Vivekanand Business School.
To be admitted to a business school, one must appear for some nationally accepted management qualifying exam. I appeared for CAT, MAHCET, and CMAT. I chose not to undergo any coaching classes for the preparation of these exams yet I scored good. To prepare well, I used various e-resources easily available on the internet and also appeared for various mock test exams. Initially, I scored really low in mock exams but gradually I learned from my mistakes and improved. And, here I am today. Just like me, everyone can go through various videos available on google on how to prepare for these competitive exams. From there they can plan various strategies according to their own comfort to perform well.
Choosing a college is not an easy task. One has to take many factors into consideration before reaching the final decision such as ROI, placements, faculty, curriculum, previous salary statistics, corporate connections, practical exposure, etc. Analysing these factors narrows down the choices available and hence helps you make a final decision.
My college life started during the covid pandemic. I never got the chance to attend classroom lectures and about online classes, it’s a very new concept for us. Though, it’s a little tiring and boring in absence of friends, faculty but makes the best use of the complete time. Though we are studying from the comfort of our home, the college has left no stone unturned to replicate the campus-like experience for us. I have taken part in almost over 30 competitions and won 5 of them, all were national competitions. With the benefit of online classes, I have also pursued multiple internships and live projects that have given me immense practical exposure to how to apply concepts in the real-world business environment. Though I like to attend all classes but rural marketing and brand management are my favourites.
If given a chance, I would like to go to the campus and solve many many case studies over there. Despite, we are in an online environment, the college has changed me as an overall person. I am now a more confident and organised person than before. From submitting assignments and project works to managing live projects along with regular classes has become possible only because of supporting faculty here.
VES Business School facilitates a lot of opportunities such as working with corporates, studying abroad, having scholarships, etc. The school aims at making all its students industry-ready.
My future plan is to be a CXO of my Wishlist firm and drive it on the path of success. This college has made that path a bit clearer for me for sure.
