To prepare, I didn’t go for any classes rather opted for online exams from various classes: Priyanka Nagotkar
When I was studying in the tenth standard, I didn’t have any plans to go for MBA. After completing my graduation, I took a break for two years for my MBA entrance preparation and also did Internships in the Public Relations and Automobile sectors. I was pretty confused about my career plans but an aptitude test and the favourable result made me go for Management Studies. I appeared for entrance exams such as CMAT, MAT, ATMA and CET. For the preparation, I didn’t go for any classes but had opted for online exams from various classes like IMS and CET King.
After the entrance tests, I opted to go for Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Management Studies and Research. They considered my highest scores among these after the registration process. The next process was the Group Discussion and Personal Interview which all went well. After the proper evaluation of these parameters I got a selection call from VESIM B-School. VESIM emphasises on learning analytics through BASE SAS, Advance Excel, Design Thinking and many other activities and sessions which are very important to get a leverage in the industry. Hence looking at the whole pedagogy they offer I decided to opt VESIM B-School for my masters.
In VESIM B-School, we have learned some of the basics about operations through a workshop named “Bob the Builder”. Apart from this, we learned how to develop solutions for any social problems through workshops like Design Thinking and Social Entrepreneurship Competition and many other activities which helps in overall development of the management students.
When I started my journey at VESIM on 12 June 2019, first and foremost we had the foundation course so that each and every student’s basics are clear. We were welcomed by our seniors, professors and the Director Sir as well. We also had Parichay- learning by doing programme for two days in our college to ensure that we as students are a part of cohesive group with a focus to succeed. The time we spend in college has both fun and learning as VESIM believes in learning with practical knowledge.
Talking about classes and lectures at VESIM B-School, every lecture is based on conceptual case-studies, presentations, videos and activities. Hence, for me, every lecture has its own significance in the whole curriculum as there are lot many concepts that we get to learn. Being a marketing student since graduation, I always liked marketing management classes as they were filled with lot of case-studies, live-examples, proper one-to-one discussions.
VESIM conducts many lectures on time management, work-life management as well as panel discussions in which we get to learn many things related to current industry directly from the Industry experts. Even lectures are kept of the previous alumni of VESIM who are now at great positions in their respective industry. Due to so much exposure apart from regular lectures, it has always added up the extra learnings, positive approach and attitude in the minds of the students. Students can also get an internship opportunity if they try to create good connections with the corporate experts who come to deliver guest lectures at VESIM Campus.
Opportunities come and go, but people should learn to grab them and conquer their aims. VESIM has a pool of opportunities for its students. It has a curriculum of five-month internship programme. The internship can help students to apply for whatever they have learned and turn this internship into a full-time placement offer. Apart from this, VESIM has a syllabus which contains Base SAS & R-Programming which is an added opportunity for students to learn these softwares and get into a tech job. At VESIM, we can learn languages such as Spanish, German and French, which enable students to consider global job opportunities as well.
Talking about my short-term goal, it is to complete my Post Graduation Diploma in Management with good grades and industry-relevant skills which could help me to land in FMCG companies in the marketing or sales department and in next four years as a manager. I also aspire to open my business in next ten years in food sector once I have proper experience and analytical skills to know about the consumers and the market.
