Placement Status and Recruiting Companies at University Maharaja College, Jaipur

Established in 1844 by Sawai Ram Singh as "Maharaja School", University Maharaja College, Jaipur has gained the status of "College with potential for Excellence" by the UGC in 2011. With about 2500 students currently studying in this institution, it is easily one of the best colleges for undergraduate degree courses in the streams of science in the city. Despite being a government institution, the University of Maharaja College, Jaipur offers all the necessary facilities to its students. The college does not lack any potential in terms of placement and internship opportunities.

By offering placement assistance, the institute assists students in finding the best jobs in business. Additionally, the college offers training and career advising services to help students develop their personalities and create their careers. The institute runs a number of initiatives to develop students’ skills and get them ready for new challenges. There is a functioning placement cell with faculty members from many departments. The placement cell at Maharaja College is quite effective and its members are very resourceful. They constantly remind the students to present the best version of themselves. The cell acts as a conduit between the students’ objectives and the corporate sector and various well-known businesses. It prepares the students for jobs following college. Effective interviewing and communication skills are taught to students.

Placement Process: Only third-year undergraduate students are eligible to sign up for on-campus placements. Students may register for the placement programme if they obtain an above-average percentile on their second-year exams because the college solely uses the annual exam system. In 2019, only students with an average of 80 per cent or higher are eligible to register for the placement procedure. In the last year of graduation, a placement session is conducted to provide a job. The placement procedure takes place in the month of December, and around 15-20 well-known companies visit the campus during the session. The recruiting companies may also give interested students the opportunity to apply for a paid or unpaid internship in their particular industries. Students may also apply for off-campus recruitment camps. Most students at University Maharaja College, Jaipur aim for off-campus internship opportunities, as it gives them more exposure to the outside world as well as experience in the special field they’re perusing their studies in. Many students have also started their own startups and businesses with the help of faculty members of the University of Maharaja College, Jaipur. Teachers, non-teaching staff, even NSS members and student politicians help the students get placements. The college also arranges seminars and mock interviews to help students get ready for the placement process.

Meanwhile, for Bachelor of Science students, 40–45% of the batch are hired each year for high-paying positions by reputable organisations during the placement process. The highest salary package offered to students with Physics Hons. was INR 4 LPA and Chemistry Hons. was INR 5 LPA.

Placement status during the COVID-19 Pandemic: There have been numerous improvements made to the placement procedure over the last few years as a result of the pandemic. There were fewer students employed. However, even during the epidemic, University Maharaja College, Jaipur and the University of Rajasthan made sure to give their students all the information and resources about placement chances. During the lockdown, online interviews, educational webinars, workshops on soft skills development, and placement training were all held on platforms like Zoom.
