Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has ordered all private schools in the state to not hike fees in the academic year 2020-21.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has directed all private schools in the state to not hike fees in the 2020-21 academic sessions. The decision has been taken by the government considering the coronavirus nationwide lockdown in the country.

The Chief Minister also announced extension of the lockdown in the state until May 7. With this, Telangana becomes the first state in the country to enter the third phase of lockdown.

"The cabinet has decided to extend the lockdown in the state until May 7. With the rising number of coronavirus positive cases in the state, this decision has been taken. On May 5, the cabinet will take stock of the situation," the Chief Minister said.

Talking about private schools, he said, schools have been directed not to increase fees in this academic session. Schools should not increase fees even by one paise for the 2020-21 academic year. The government is issuing the orders, he added.
