The minister of Punjab School and Higher Education said that at least 10 lakh students would now get information while sitting at home, related to career counselling, courses and scholarships.

The minister of Punjab School and Higher Education, Pargat Singh on November 15, 2021, launched a ‘career portal’ aimed at providing professional guidance to school and college students. The portal has been launched by the state education department in association with UNICEF India and Aasman Foundation. The minister stated that the candidates are not able to make the right career choice and this is the major reason behind the unemployment issue. He further added that the students would do wonders with their capability and skills if they get adequate career guidance at an opportune time.

According to Indian Express, Sharing a personal thought, the minister said that had he taken up some other sport instead of hockey, he would not have been able to perform so well. Pargat Singh said that the portal, http://www.punjabcareerportal.com, would play a very significant role in guiding the students about various online courses, scholarships and vocations as part of a series of measures being undertaken by the Education Department. Students looking for a suitable career path can log on to the portal and get the information.

The minister added that at least 10 lakh students would now get information while sitting at home, related to career counselling, courses and scholarships.

The portal will make students equipped with information concerning the possibilities in the new trades emerging in the modern era, Lalita Sachdeva, guidance expert from UNICEF India said.
