Special life management sessions are conducted to prepare students for corporate world, says Dean of ADMC
In a conversation with Shiksha.com, MET Asian Management Development Centre's AMDC Dean Prof. Arun Patil talks about the state-of-the-art infrastructure and a well-connected central location in Bandra West. He also talks about the high level of brand equity in the academic world that MET enjoys. Prof Arun Patil is working as Dean & Professor for MET’s Asian Management Development Center at Mumbai. He holds a work experience of 27 years in the corporate world in companies such as LIC, ICICI Prudential and Kotak Mahindra, holding senior positions as Head & Sr. Vice President. He has also authored seven books.
Q: What are the three things that your institute/college/university is doing that will enable it to differentiate itself from competition?
A: We have a state-of-the-art Infrastructure, consisting of the library with more than 85,000 books and Journals, two fully operational computer labs, specious class rooms equipped with latest technology, a gymkhana and playground along with a music room. Our premises are located at a well-connected central location in Bandra West. Our Institute has several International tie- ups such as CII, London, ACCA, London, MIM, New York etc. MET enjoys a very high level of brand equity in the academic world, having won multiple awards.
Q: What are the top three initiatives undertaken by you that are helping your students become more industry-ready?
A: We conduct continuous GDPI sessions and aptitude tests for our third semester students to get them job-ready for the industry. Special Life Management sessions are conducted for the students to develop them not only as excellent managers, but also as holistic human beings.
Continuous industry- based live projects are given to them to link their theoretical knowledge with the practical experience at the grass root level in the Industry. We have future-ready syllabus, with special subjects such as IT for Project Management, Business Analytics, Real Estate and so on.

A: We look for four qualities which are Honesty, Integrity and awareness of Business Ethics and CSR; Creativity and Innovation to deal with ever changing challenges and dynamics of the 21st century; A high level of Intelligence, coupled with Emotional Intelligence (EQ); and a Well-rounded personality, accompanied by social and national commitment.
Q: Which programme/s would you say is/are your best? What is it that helps your institution differentiate itself for this programme?
A: All programmes have their uniqueness. In keeping with the aspirant’s career goal and background, the rightly fitting programme at MET can be chosen by the aspiring students after consultation with the counsellors and faculty members.
Q: What are you doing to improve/drive better campus placements for your current students and alumni? What kind of jobs routinely come to campus? What would you say are the key recruitment trends for your college (observed over the past five years)?
A: Through several seminars, workshops and functions, we provide ongoing industry interface to our students. Seminars /Workshops are conducted regularly in Marketing, Finance, HR, IT and Insurance streams. A whole lot of companies come to our premises for recruiting candidates for selling profile (even in Finance & HR). Observed over the past five years, a substantial number of start- ups & new companies have visited our premises and recruited hundreds of suitable candidates. Over the last two and half decades, our Institute has held the record of almost 100 per cent placement. We have an alumni base of over 2500, several of them helping the Institute in teaching, networking, securing internships and jobs and overall development of the syllabus and the students.
