Design studies encompasses various spectrums of creative fields teaching visual communication, typography, understanding the colour theory, technical understanding, aesthetics, and problem-solving skills. Eligibility criteria: Depending on various colleges and state affairs, the entrance test to apply for design courses might vary. The most common entrance exams for UG and PG design courses are IIAD, NIT, NIFT, UCEED, CEED, MIT, SEED design aptitude test, etc.

Design programs are categorised into creative design syllabus, ui/ux design, emerging technology design such as VR, AI and machine learning, robotics, fashion and apparel, interior design, etc.

Trending design courses for 2024 & 2025 aspirants after completing 12th grades are:

  1. BSC in fashion & apparel design or Bdes in fashion design: A 3/4-year Bachelor in Fashion Design is a complete program focused on preparing scholars with skills in apparel design, textile science, and fashion theory.
  2. Bsc in Interior Design and Decoration: A 3-year bachelor in interior design is focused on equipping scholars with skills in retail, commercial, and residential design, landscape, and design theory.
  3. BVA/B design in graphic and visual communication design: BVA/Bachelor of Design in Graphic Design is a degree of 4 years that focuses on developing skills in visual communication through digital and print media and includes training in typography, layout design, digital illustration, and branding. Applicants with a passion for visual arts, creativity, and design software are the best fit for this course.
  4. B.Des in Animation: The B.Des in Animation covers 2D and 3D animation techniques, storyboarding, character design, and visual effects. The course immerses students in the art and technology of creating animated visuals for films, games, and digital media. Scholars with a strong interest in storytelling and visual creativity along with a basic understanding of animation software opt for this course.
  5. B.Des in Industrial Design: Focuses on creating and improving functional products and systems, integrating aesthetics, ergonomics, and user experience. The syllabus provides product design, material knowledge, industrial procedures, and sustainable design practices. 
  6. B.Des in Interior and Furniture Design: The B.Des in Interior and Furniture Design course emphasises training scholars with skills to create artistically pleasing and functional interior living spaces. 
  7. Bsc in Textile Design: A specialised undergraduate program focusing on the development and invention of textiles and materials for fashion, interiors, and other applications combining design philosophies, textile technology, pattern making, dyeing practices, and digital design.
  8. BVA in Product Design: The course focuses on the creation and development of functional and aesthetically pleasing products. It covers design principles, user experience, prototyping, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  9. B.Des in Communication Design/Fashion Communication: It is an undergraduate program that merges fashion with media and communication strategies. It embraces fashion marketing, labelling, visual merchandising, digital media, and public relations.
  10. BSC in Jewellery or Accessory Design: The program focuses on creating designs of jewellery and fine accessories, including training in material sourcing, design techniques, gemology, CAD, and industrial processes.J
