This beautiful campus was built and established after Maharani Gayatri Devi to encourage female education in the state of Rajasthan.  

Built in 1944, University Maharani College is a constituent college of the University of Rajasthan. With the capacity of accommodating more than 10,000 students, the campus area of UMC, Jaipur includes five blocks Humanities and Science Department Building, New Science Block, Library Building, Sports and NCC Block and Drama Department block.

Facilities Available at University Maharani College

In order to ensure the overall development of the students, the campus of University Maharani College has all kinds of facilities available.  

Labs: The campus consists of labs for every practical subject with all the modern and necessary types of equipment. University Maharani College has separate Labs for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It has substantial labs for Home Science, Phycology, Statistics, Geography and Fine Arts (Drawing and Painting) as well.

University Maharani College, University of Rajasthan is a well-known institution for B.Com, B.A., B.Sc., BCA, BBA, Certificate courses. These programs are delivered by highly experienced faculty. As per Shiksha verified reviews, University Maharani College, University of Rajasthan has a rating of 3.9 on the basis of reviews by students. Not just this, it has also been rated 4.2 on campuslife, 2.8 on placements, 3.9 on faculty and 4 on Infrastructure.

Q:   How is life at Maharani College?

The placement of the college is the best placement, in my opinion. There are many reputed companies that come to conduct interviews with the students and offer packages based on their capabilities. 

College life is very good in Maharani college as all the basic amenities are available within the campus .

The college also has two BCA labs and one ECA lab ( Elementary Computer, a compulsory subject for first-year students). The college also consists of a separate hall for Drama Department. 

Library: The college has a large and well-equipped 2-floor Library with more than 1 lakh books. The library consists of novels, journals, encyclopedias, biographies and academic books in English, Hindi, Urdu and Sanskrit.  

Two library cards are provided to every student each year, with the help of which they can borrow two books at once for a maximum of eight days. 

The library has a quiet and spacious area with chairs and tables for more than 100 students to sit and study at once. The library also has a large number of CDs, VCDs, Newspapers and Educational Magazines available that are beneficial to the students.  

Rooms: Each building consists of two floors with an exception of the Drama Department, which has one floor with one hall and the New Science Block, which has 3 floors and 22 rooms including the BCA lab, Science lab and 3 BBA halls. The college has three lifts across buildings, that are still in making. 

There is a separate room provided for sports and athletic activities. The campus also has a common room (for Dance Society), and a student activity centre also known as SAC (for other societies and co-curricular activities). The campus has two music rooms, one each for the Music Department and the Music Society. A separate room is also provided for NCC cadets.  

Free Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is accessible for all the students for up to an hour every day.  

Canteen: The college canteen is well-maintained and hygienic, with light snacks and soft drinks available at a low rate for students. There’s a spacious and covered sitting area outside the canteen for students to have their meal in. However, the canteen has not been in action for the past two years since the COVID-19 outbreak. 

Stadium and Playgrounds: University Maharani College, Jaipur is known nationwide for its rich cultural and extracurricular activities. There is a stadium, referred to as Kachawa Stadium, within the college with wide ground. This ground consists of a Volleyball Court, a Badminton court, a Cricket field and the main stage. Beside the sitting area of Kachawa Stadium, there is a well-maintained basketball court as well.  

The college has two fountains that add up to the beauty and aesthetic of the campus, one around the entrance area and the other in the middle of the Humanities and Science Department. There is another ground, separated into two, available for students right in the middle of the Humanities and Science Department, which is the largest block with the most number of rooms on the campus.  

Auditorium: There is a mini auditorium with two floors in the college named Savitri Bhartiya Hall or SB Hall. Most of the College’s official events are held in this auditorium. The auditorium has a capacity of 5000 students.  

Hostel & Mess Facilities: There are two girls' hostels available for the students, Annie Besant Hostel and Mother Teresa Hostel, with comfortable accommodation for students. Each room is shared by two students with a separate single bed and closet. Admission to the hostels is given on merit bases. According to University Statement, two more hostels have been constructed under MADA and will be available for students in the next academic session. 

Mess facilities are at avail in both hostels. The food is healthy and hygienic. There is a large sitting area accessible as well. Food is available in different variations on different days.  

Transportation Facilities: Transport facilities are easily accessible from the campus. There are no buses or vehicles provided by the college, however, there is a bus stop just outside the main doors, from where public buses or other means of transport can be taken to travel anywhere and everywhere around the city.  

Security: The College and the hostel, both have a well-built security system. Other than the security guards, special female police officers are assigned to look after the college during the day and help the students if they face problems.
