Despite taking strong measures 359 students have been caught cheating during high school and intermediate exams in Uttar Pradesh, while over 4 lakh students have left their Board examinations.
A school clerk in Uttar Pradesh was caught using his house as an examination centre of the state board to help students pass the class 12 examination using false means in Deoria district. The police have arrested 11 people in connection with the case. However, the clerk is on the run. According to sources, during a police raid at the clerk’s home, several stamped answer sheets were found. Talking about the case, the police told that a team of ‘test solvers’ used stamped sheets that were later added to the answer sheets of the students.
When the police raided the clerk’s home, they found ‘answer solvers’ writing on the sheets with question papers kept next to them. During interrogation, one of the girls confessed that they are solving UP Board exam papers.
Talking about the case, the police has stated that they are in the process of identifying other school employees that are involved. The police have also identified two students who allegedly paid for their test papers to be solved.
To avoid cheating and other wrong means, the state government has set up monitoring units and has done CCTV coverage in the exam centres. Approximately. 56 lakh students are taking the UP Board’s class 10 and class 12 examination. It has also launched Twitter handle, helpline numbers, email IDs, and toll-free numbers to register complaints related to the Board examination.
