Why educational and industrial collaborations are crucial?

4 mins readUpdated on Aug 30, 2021 14:28 IST

AMC is constantly striving towards improving the learning environment of the students by bringing in innovative educational programmes and is on an insatiable quest to stay in sync with the ever-evolving times. AMC Engineering College has a number of collaborations to its credit and these collaborations provide students with the latest study materials and methods and ensure AMCians are always on the top of their game.

  • Harvard Business Publishing: Following IIM-B, AMC is the second college in Bangalore to partner with Harvard Business Publishing to improve business management techniques. AMC's goal, in collaborating with HBP, is to provide ideas to its students that will help them become more creative, smarter and more courageous in their jobs. Case Method Teaching, which brings real-world business issues to life in the classroom, is one of the collaboration's services. As students learn to evaluate business problems, cases reveal the realities of managerial decision making - which includes inadequate information, time restrictions, and conflicting goals. The case method, more than any other educational style, loads more experience into each hour of learning. It encourages students' critical thinking and class discussions, both of which are key aspects of learning. It is not only the most relevant and practical approach for students to learn managerial abilities, but it is also extremely engaging.
  • Coursera: Coursera collaborates with universities and other organisations to provide online courses, certificates, and degrees in a wide range of disciplines and through them, more than 150 colleges and universities offer upwards of 4,000 courses. Coursera empowers AMC to provide students, faculty, and staff with job-relevant, credit-ready online education. The AMC x Coursera collaboration allows AMC to provide its students with flexible, inexpensive, and job-relevant online learning. They provide a variety of learning opportunities, ranging from hands-on projects and courses to job-ready certificates and degree programmes that prepare students for employment.
  • Toastmasters International: Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation with a global network of clubs that teaches public speaking and leadership abilities. The organisation, which is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, has over 364,000 members in over 16,200 groups in 145 countries. Since its inception in 1924, Toastmasters International has been helping individuals from all walks of life become more confident orators, communicators, and leaders. AMC and Toastmasters have collaborated to encourage their students to overcome stage fright and develop into confident, able persons by pushing them to step up on stage and speak their minds without inhibitions.
  • ISDC: AMC, in partnership with ISDC (International Skills Development Corporation - an expert in professional and vocational education), intends to promote and offer business analytics to B.Com, BBA, and MBA students, as recommended by the IoA (Institute of Analytics), the UK's professional body for data science and analytics. The above-mentioned courses will be promoted and offered as graduate/post-graduate programmes by AMC, using ISDC's expertise.
  • ACCA: AMC partnered with ACCA to promote and offer BCom (Accounts or Finance Specialization), which includes the ACCA Curriculum, as well as the revised BCom (Accounts or Finance Specialisation) syllabus established by ISDC in collaboration with Bangalore University. On the other hand, AMC is interested in collaborating with ISDC to promote and offer SIMS' BCom (Accounts or Finance Specialisation) with ACCA Qualification as an undergraduate programme. AMC on its part is interested in associating with ISDC for using their expertise to promote and deliver the BCom (Accounts or Finance Specialisation) with ACCA Qualification as an Undergraduate Programme of SIMS. Faculty Development Program (FDP) or Train The Trainer programmes are used by ISDC to offer ACCA subjects. It offers qualified trainers to AMC to teach the non-exempt ACCA papers at the foundation level.
  • IOA: The Institute of Analytics (IoA) is the Professional Body for Analytics and Data Science professionals in the UK and International. The Institute of Analytics (IoA) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting analytics knowledge, comprehension, and innovation. Leading organisations in the sector have backed IoA in its objective. Students who join the Institute of Analytics with AMC have the opportunity to network with other industry professionals, learn about career development opportunities, share knowledge and expertise, participate in Continuous Professional Development programmes, and receive an official designation of studentship. With this collaboration, AMC is able to assist students to prepare for the future by providing them with IoA Accredited Qualifications and materials. The Institute of Analytics and Data Science (IoA) provides pathways to a professional career in analytics and data science.
  • TedxAMC: Imagine a day jam-packed with inspiring speakers, thought-provoking videos, and mind-blowing discussions. AMC hopes to create a one-of-a-kind gathering in our community by hosting a TEDx event that will inspire, enlighten, and ignite new ideas. AMC hopes to create a worldwide community through its partnership with Tedx, embracing individuals from all disciplines and cultures who want to learn more - about everything. Tedx with AMC is a firm believer in the power of ideas to transform people's minds, lives and eventually, the world.

Conclusion

AMC firmly believes that Collaborative learning not only develops higher-level thinking skills in students but boosts their confidence and self-esteem as well. It may seem like a no-brainer, but true brainstorm is not possible without collaboration. Collaboration provides a safety net; it helps you catapult your thinking and develop ideas that may seem crazy at first. In our educational culture today, it is extremely important to join professional learning communities and pursue professional learning opportunities to ensure ongoing growth for our students and for ourselves.
