Breaking! ICSE Postpones board exams amid coronavirus scare

The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) has postponed the class 10, 12 examinations due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus.

The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) has postponed the class 10, 12 examinations due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus. According to the latest reports, an ICSE official has confirmed that the Board has decided to postpone the higher secondary and intermediate examinations till March 31. The ICSE 2020 examination was scheduled to end on March 30 and the ISC 2020 examination was scheduled to end on March 31. According to the official press release, the revised dates of the postponed examinations will be released by the Board soon.

However, On March 18, 2020, the Board's chief executive and secretary, Gerry Arathoon stated that the ICSE examinations will be conducted as per the earlier schedule and no change in the schedule is being made in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. The ICSE board had clarified earlier regarding the non-postponement of ICSE class 10, ISC class 12 board examination following postponing of exams by the CBSE, National Testing Agency and all universities till March 31.  

In the wake of coronavirus, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) postponed CBSE Class 12, CBSE Class 10 Board exams on March 18, 2020. The Board will now reschedule the Class 10, Class 12 Board exams after March 31. CBSE declared the postponement after the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) ordered the board to postpone exams in order to curb the chances of novel coronavirus spread.

Talking about the postponement of the examination, CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi stated that the Board has postponed all the ongoing CBSE examinations in India and abroad till March 31. The examination will be rescheduled thereafter... after an assessment of the situation. All ongoing evaluation work will be suspended during the period.

Concerning the safety and security of the students, HRD secretary Amit Khare released an official notification stating that while maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule is important, equally important is the safety and security of students who are appearing in various examinations as also of their teachers and parents.
