Coronavirus impact: Goa SSC board 2020 postponed until further notice

The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) declared the postponement of the class 10 examination.

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country, the nation is under lockdown to control its spread. Considering the severity of the situation, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) declared the postponement of the class 10 examination. Earlier, the Goa education board scheduled to conduct the SSC examination from April 2 onwards. The dates are not decided yet and a fresh schedule for the examination will be released later by the Board.

The GBSHSE canceled class 12 examinations earlier when the lockdown was announced until March 31. Only three papers of class 12 board examinations are left to conduct.

The education board canceled examinations of classes up to 8^th as a precautionary measure against the contagious coronavirus spread. A circular issued by Goa Education Director Vandana Rao informed that schools will conduct exams for classes 9 to 11 as per schedule. It also stated the seating arrangement for the examination will be different as the students will sit one metre apart from each other.

However, On March 24, PM Modi declared a 21-day nationwide lockdown and advised people to stay inside their homes and practice social distancing. The conditions under the COVID-19 spread is getting worse. To control the virus spread, the country is taking several social distancing steps such as closure of academic institutions, tourist places, gyms, cinema halls, offices, malls, etc. The total number of positive coronavirus cases in India are 733. The disease has claimed 20 lives so far. However, on a positive side, 66 people have managed to recover.
