Coronavirus Lockdown: UP Board to conduct special virtual classes for class 10,12 students on Doordarshan

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that it will broadcast lessons for class 10, 12 students on Doordarshan (DD) from May 1.

To avoid any academic loss of the students during the lockdown period, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced that from May 1 it will broadcast lessons through special virtual classes on Doordarshan (DD) for class 10th, 12th students, along with online classes.

This lockdown has impacted the academic calendar and to make sure students do not suffer due to this, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has taken this step to broadcast virtual classes for students in UP Class 12th Board and UP Class 10th Board.

The classes will be aired on DD’s Swayamprabha channel from 10 am to 12 noon every day, as per a statement by the UP Board. There will be four classes every day with a duration of 30 minutes each. The recordings of the classes is underway at APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University.

Earlier, the state government had started taking online classes through WhatsApp. Around 42.56 lakh students have already joined. The government is also working towards launching Youtube channel to conduct the virtual classes, the release stated earlier.

The evaluation process for Class 10th, 12th answer sheets will start from May 4.  A total of 5,89,622 candidates had registered for class 12 and class 10 exams this year. The results of the board examinations can be expected by May-end. The evaluation process was put on hold after the nationwide lockdown was announced by the Centre.

The Education department has earlier promoted the students of class 1 to 8 to the next grades as schools were closed due to coronavirus lockdown.
