The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) decided to promote all the students of classes 5 to 7 without any exams. The promotion will be irrespective of their yearly performance.
In the wake of the novel coronavirus spread and 21 days nationwide lockdown in the country, the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) decided to promote all the students of classes 5 to 7 without any exams. The promotion will be irrespective of their yearly performance.
During this time of crisis, conducting the examination will lead to large gatherings and put the health and safety of students and staff members at stake. Considering the severity of the situation, JAC decided to promote all the students of class 5 to class 7 to higher classes without any assessment. According to the reports, the Council might have decided to promote the students but the Board will conduct a ‘benchmarking’ test for students once the classes will resume.
Talking about the postponement of the students, Principal Secretary of School Education and Literacy Department, AP Singh stated that the decision is taken considering the current scenario of the closure of the schools. He assured that the promotion is without any examination but students will have to give a ‘benchmarking test’ once the classes begin again.
Earlier, JAC decided to conduct the examinations from March 31. However, the postponement decision was taken after the PM’s declaration regarding the nationwide lockdown for 21 days. The decision is taken to make people practice social distancing in order to control the novel coronavirus spread. Meanwhile, JAC also postponed the declaration of class 8 and class 9 annual results until further notice. The results were supposed to be out this month.
