While many students of CBSE Class 10 are happy about the exams being postponed, some of them will still have to wait for the revised datesheet for their last examination.
With the rapid growth of the Coronavirus cases in the country, many boards including the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed its ongoing examinations scheduled between March 19 and March 30 for both classes 10 and 12, till March 31. In a notification dated March 18, the Ministry of Human Resource Development had directed all the boards to reschedule their examinations after March 31 only after analysing the situation in the country. Many state boards such as Haryana Board (BSEH), JKBOSE, among others, have also postponed their ongoing examinations, keeping in mind the safety of the students and also to prevent further spread of the Coronavirus.
As many as 390 Indians have tested positive for the COVID-19 according to the data on March 22, 2020.
The CBSE 10thexams were scheduled to conclude on March 20 with Computer Sciences, as per the earlier datesheet.

We, at Shiksha, interviewed some students to know their reaction to the postponement of their CBSE Class 10 Board examinations due to the spread of Coronavirus. We also asked them about the impact the postponement would have on their preparation.
Below are the excerpts from two of the students who appeared for the CBSE 10th exams this year.
Reet Kaur Ahuja, a Class 10 student, said that the postponement did not affect her much as her examinations have concluded. She was elated as she doesn’t have anything to wait for now. Talking about the spread of the Coronavirus and its effect on the board exams, she said that while going for the examinations in the initial days of the spread, she was very scared and used to wear a face mask, as prescribed by the Central Board. She also said that she used to sanitise her hands every hour. The result, she says won’t be delayed as only one exam was pending, i.e Computer Science. When asked about her views on how one should prepare for boards during such a health emergency, she said, “One should not panic, be relieved and study in the given time.” She also said that all her exams went “great”. While she found Science to be the toughest exam, Mathematics was an easy one for her.
Nalini Jain from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School is also of the same view about the difficulty level of Science this year. She found the Science exam to be the toughest of the lot, while English was easy for her. After CBSE issued an advisory to take precautionary measures while sitting for the examinations, many students carried sanitisers in the examination hall as well as wore face masks. Talking about the same, Nalini said that she was a little scared and tensed about the ongoing crisis the world is going through. “I took several precautions including using sanitizer, maintaining a proper distance, washing hands frequently,” she further said. About the exams being postponed, she said, “I was not affected by Government's decision of postponing the exams because my exams have concluded, however, I feel a little sad for the students who are left with their exams. But, I’d say ' precaution is better than cure!'.”
Since the exams have been postponed, many students are also curious to know whether there will be a delay in the declaration of results too. Speaking about it, Nalini mentioned that she feels the same about the delay in result considering the prevailing situation in the country. She further said that she has high hopes from her result as all her exams went "really well".
