While CBSE 10th exams are concluded (except some examinations rescheduled for northeast Delhi students), the board still cannot give instructions to commence the evaluation work.

Central Board of Secondary Education expressed that due to the emergency situations prevailing in India because of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the board could not continue with the evaluation work. In an official notice, the Board announced that considering the severity of the situation, the Board cannot set a date to start the evaluation work.

While CBSE 10thexams are concluded (except some examinations rescheduled for northeast Delhi students), the board still cannot give instructions to commence the evaluation work. In the official notice released on April 1, CBSE stated, β€˜These instructions and dates for the restart of evaluation work in various evaluation centres in the country can also not be announced at this stage.’

In order to control the COVID-19 virus spread, the nation is under lockdown until April 14. It is evident that the Board will be able to take the decision to commence the evaluation once the lockdown is over. However, CBSE has assured that it will give 3-4 days' prior notice to restart the evaluation work, which may be noted by all the Chief Nodal Supervisors, Head Examiners, Evaluators, Coordinators, etc. of Evaluation Centers.

The Board also canceled all the pending annual examinations. CBSE stated that in the present situation, it will be difficult to bring the answer books to India for evaluation purposes. Therefore, the Board has decided to not hold any more exams for the students of class 10 and 12 schools located outside India. However, the board will work out a system to assess the students' performance for declaring the Board exam results.

While in India, the board will be conducting examinations for only main subjects that are necessary for promotion and may be crucial for admissions in higher educational institutions. Separate instructions will be issued for marking or assessment in all the rest of the subjects.
