The West Bengal government has announced that from April 7, one-week virtual classes will be conducted for the students studying in state-run schools, from class 9 to 12.

To help students stay in touch with their studies amidst 21-day coronavirus lockdown, the West Bengal government has announced one-week long virtual classes for the students studying in higher classes in state-run schools.

The classes will commence from April 7 and will be held on the DD Bangla channel. During a particular time of the day, some well-known teachers will deliver lectures on particular subjects for the students studying from class 9 to 12, Partha Chatterjee, Education Minister, West Bengal said.

In case of any query, the students can ask questions during these virtual classes. They can contact the teacher delivering the lecture through the phone numbers and the mail id given during the show. This has been done to make the virtual classes interactive for all the students, the minister added.

"As per the curriculum of the first summative exam, students will have to submit a home activity report during this period of suspension of classes until April 14 and submit the report once the school re-opens," he said.

The teachers can download the model questions for the activity report card from the state school education department website and can send them to students through Whatsapp, e-mail, and other online modes. If the teacher feels that there are some modifications required, they can do it before sending it to their students, the minister said.

Speaking on the exam schedule of the remaining two papers of West Bengal class 12th board examination, he said, the students will be notified at the appropriate time.

"West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has not released any dates for two remaining papers of class 12th. Please don't give any importance to such information that are circulating on WhatsApp. The council will announce the dates considering all factors after lockdown and put on its website,” he said.
