Rajasthan government has put on hold Class 10, 12, 5 and 8 board examinations for an indefinite time until further orders amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Speaking on the development, Singh Dotasra, Education Minister, Rajasthan said that the government has put on hold the board examinations for Class 10, 12, 5 and 8 conducted by RBSE until further orders in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Responding to the situation, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also requested schools and colleges around the state to postpone the examinations. He has also directed all the government, semi-government departments, autonomous institutions, and state corporations to remain shut until March 31 in wake of coronavirus outbreak.
However, all those departments will continue their work who is associated with essential services, Gehlot said.
The total number of candidates who have registered for the Rajasthan State Board Examinations for Class 12th and 10th this year are 11, 79,830 and 8,65,895 respectively.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also cancelled all the examinations that were scheduled to be held from March 19 to March 31, including Class 10th and 12th board examinations. The new date will be announced by the Board later.
Following the government orders, National Testing Agency (NTA) has also postponed JEE Main exams which were scheduled to be held in April. The engineering entrance exam new dates will be announced now on March 31. The JEE Main exam 2020 was supposed to be conducted on April 5,7,9 and 11. The JEE Main January session was held from January 6-9, and the results were announced on January 17, 2020.
