Top 10 NIOS Class 12 Chemistry Exam Preparation Tips

The students preparing for the Class 12 Chemistry examination should follow the preparation tips given below to ease their preparation process:

  1. Rely on NCERT books: NIOS exams are based on NCERT books. Hence, the students must refer to NCERT books only for preparation as these books help in clearing the basic concepts. Also, practice and solve the questions given at the end of every chapter.
  2. Know the formulae, bonds, and rules: Chemistry is based on rules, formulae, and bonds. Understand and learn all the details of the reactions to secure high marks.
  3. Practice formulae: Write down all the formulae in a separate notebook and practice the chemical reactions daily. Pay attention to details like chemical structure. For example, know the difference between benzene and benzene derivatives.
  4. Memorise the periodic table: This is the most basic thing which every student should do at the beginning of their preparation. Revise the periodic table regularly.
  5. Know how to write the answer: The class 12 Chemistry exam not only tests the basic understanding of the subject but its presentation as well. Add heading and sub-headings in every answer for more clarity. This includes an introduction, the chemical reaction involved, a diagram, pros/cons or uses, and a conclusion.
  6. Stick to the word limit: The students must stick to the word limit and follow the exam instructions while writing the answer. Write crisp and accurate answers. This helps in fetching marks.
  7. Write within the time limit: The exam duration is three hours. Always write the answers within the stipulated time with half an hour left for reviewing the answer sheet
  8. Practice papers and solve questions: After finishing the syllabus, make it a routine to solve at least one of the previous years’ papers daily within the stipulated time limit. Look at the way answers are presented in the solved question banks. This helps in time management and working on the weak points.
