IIM-V, IIITDM-K collaborate for joint programmes and research
The signing and exchange of the MOU took place between IIM-V Director Professor M Chandrasekhar and the IIITDM-K Director Professor DVLN Somayajulu.
Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapatnam (IIM-V) and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool, signed a memorandum of understanding on September 19. IIM-V and IIITDM Kurnool have collaborated to explore joint programmes, including academic title granting programs. The institutes will also collaborate for resource-sharing, including faculty experts to participate in joint consulting and research projects. The signing and exchange of the MOU took place between IIM-V Director Professor M Chandrasekhar and the IIITDM-K Director Professor DVLN Somayajulu.
According to the official press note, while speaking at the occasion, IIM-V Director expressed hope that the collaboration will enable them to address capacity-building and applied-research needs of the industry in their areas of expertise together. The Professor said, “The endeavour, to begin with, would be to launch programs that offer a judicious blend of design and manufacturing skills together with production and project management, aimed at industry professionals and practitioners.”
IIITDM-K Director Professor Somayajulu called the initiative furtherance of the objectives of the New Education Policy 2020 that encourage collaborative, multi-disciplinary learning. He further added, “The partnership will help the institutions to jointly address the training and consultancy needs of the industry in the hard skills of manufacturing as well as in the soft and social skills of management, thus providing a one-stop solution that maximises the benefit to the stakeholders.
Under this partnership, the two institutions are now forming a joint working group to explore and advance opportunities that are current with context and are of contemporaneous interest to the industry. This joint initiative also brings into fruition, an objective of the Higher Education Planning Board of Andhra Pradesh set up by the AP State Council of Higher Education, to promote collaboration, cooperation and co-working among the member institutions of the state, the press note stated.
