The summit aims to help students create innovative business models and find funding.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is organising its fifth edition summit and almost 800 individuals from all across the country have registered for the same. According to the report, out the 800 people, 600 are from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. All set to commence from January 17 till January 19, the e-submit is being hosted by the institute’s entrepreneurship cell. Representations from both the IIT Tirupati and IIT Palakkad have been included in this year’s summit.

The e-cell's student head explained that this year's IIT-M summit is going to be the sum of the earlier four summits. The theme of the summit is ‘Triumph Trails!’ and will include case study presentations by business experts from the government, academia, and industry. A social campaign on digital well-being called ‘D-Well’ has also been planned this year. Lectures and business competitions to enrich the experience of the participants will also be included in the summit.

According to Srinivasan Viswanathan of the IITM Entrepreneurship Forum, the submit aims to help students in finding innovative business models and funding. The students need to be equipped with the knowledge to start a business and that is what the submit aims to provide. He further added that they started nine years back and the forum has had alumni from the batches of the 1960s till those who have graduated five years ago. It included academics and angel investors who were working as students’ mentors.

The entrepreneurship cell’s advisor, Ashwin Mahalingam, said that the summit’s focus this year is to guide students with an inclination towards entrepreneurship to take giant steps towards becoming successful entrepreneurs themselves in the next few years.
