Mystory@Anik Bhattacharya: How I selected my college and course

1 min readUpdated on Apr 26, 2017 15:24 IST

I chose Commerce in class 12 as I was interested in finance. For my undergraduation I took admission in Dinabandhu Andrews Institute of Technology and Management. In school I was an ordinary student but in college my performance dropped as the medium of instruction in college was English, while my schooling was in Bengali medium. But I didn’t give up. In the first few semesters my performance was not good, but in the last three semesters I proved that I can be one of the best. I always believed in myself that I can do it.

My college life

I was very irregular in college. In fact, my name was put up on the college notice board as one of the most irregular students and I am not proud of that. I may be irregular in class but I was very serious about exams.

Here, I’d like to share a funny incident. After passing the college, I went to collect my certificate. There, our Statistics teacher asked me, "new comer??"

“No ma’am, I have come to collect my certificate”, I replied.

"What??”, she was surprised.

I said, "running year ma’am”.

“But I’ve seen you for the first time in three years”, she said.

“Me too”, I replied.

My future plan

I’ve always dreamt of becoming a businessman, not because there’s good money in business but because of the passion required for it. Risk, planning, 24x7 engagement, I know business is demanding but I think it is the only profession in which luck is always with you. Your success depends on your planning and hard work.
